Well this is interesting. Last I remembered US was offending Japan for "reselling" used games, there was a slashdot article on this awhile back. I think Japan is too aggressive to begin with. I also heard once that their "greatest hits" aren't really that much cheaper than the original price.
I think Hollywood has lost it completely. I find myself watching foreign stuff more and more. I have no problem paying $20 for a movie if only I knew it wasn't going to annoying socialite-types.
These are the same people who spend $6 million on weddings, $500,000 in nail saloons, own 20 porsches and still get caught by the media stealing bubblegum in public.
I think the 1st generation ipod probably hit 50% failure rate legitimately. Every person I know with a 1st-gen ipod has basically had their batteries died by the 2nd year. Including myself.

I honestly believe China will become a superpower because of that fact. They are a rather introvertic nation, they don't brag much, they don't say much, they are self sustained. We make enemies with too many people. Damn republicans have to slow down. We rely on everybody. Without China, I would bet 50% of our lower-middle class become poor-lower-class overnight. Every economic item will escalate 2 to 3x in price.

Why was this marked flamebait? This is fact. Uneducated folks make easy targets, since they cannot fight back. Remember the time some record company exec had a kid who pirated music. (Can't find article on it). You don't see him getting arrested.
This is not necessarily a 100% draw for experienced talents. Moving to a region with only a small handful of companies leave you at the mercy of the company (google in this case). If you were out in NY or CA packed with jobs, you can always find the next thing when things don't work out. In south carolina you don't have that option. People do not work 10+ years at companies anymore.
You will likely take a paycut since the area is cheaper. After that, you will lose value if you try to move out of SC. I think NC would be a better choice for google.
We need these trains bad. Wouldn't it be nice to work in CA and go home to some farm out in the middle of nowhere. It's pretty obvious airlines are no longer reliable forms of transportation with poor service, delayed flights, lost luggages.
I like the article ALOT. But it is pretty simple why M$ was a major success. The emerging leader of the next OS (after Gates/windows) must be a combination of both. I do agree 2008 will be a serious turning point, but not so obvious until 2010.
That 2% market share comes from Dell and other pre-installs. I do not know of a single person at work/home or anywhere else that bought Vista. It is pathetically sad that viruses nowadays are so bad, people don't want to take chance on even buying a new product.
Some day some virus will be so nasty, vista would be the only choice because M$ refuse to patch XP. But this kind of strategy kills consumer trust.
It's mind boggling that Silicon Valley hasn't been expanded to Nevada, Arizona and other neighboring states. There is so much untapped resources in those states alone.
If they filtered by "star ratings" and "views", alot of non-home-made stuff will make top 10. OTOH handmade stuff is looking better than what I see on actual TV stations, go figure.
I know people claim they can hear a difference between CDs and digital mp3 files. But I really think that is a select few. I must have average ears cause they all sound kinda the same to me.
Real CS is so hardcore and abstract it is not applicable to 90% of the jobs in the market. That is why I disagree with the statement. CS should encompass everything from development at the lowest level to the highest level.
Clusty has the best clustered results by far. I think if they can speed up their engine speed for faster response they can be a legit competitor to google overtime.
Well I have been slapped by comcast with a digital-millenium-rights email saying blahblah owner of a movie is aware I am giving their movies away. And I am violating their services. The problem is that I did torrent for like 2 weeks only. I have never been a big user, at most I am estimating 20 gigs of downloads and uploads. I know people that way exceed this. They cap you if they don't like what you are downloading. IMHO bandwidth has nothing to do with it.
