You know, the Taleban have more than a fighting chance the way things are going right now. It's only a matter of time before we either have to substantially increase our presence (draft maybe?) in Afghanistan or get the hell out and let the Taleban duke it out with the Tajiks and Uzbeks.
We were talking about computer engineers, and there aren't very many computer engineers that hold peoples' lives in their hands, but point taken. I suppose my point was that are going to be incompetant people everywhere you go, and instead of complaining that they exist it's much more productive to educate, if they're willing.
but in all fields there is a base level of skill that should be required.
I agree that it would be nice, but I don't see why it should be required. Who should require it? I wish the comedian I went to go see last week was funnier but I wouldn't start lobbying the government to force comedians to take a humor exam. Maybe he'll become funnier in the future as he learns from other comedians.
I wouldn't look at it in terms of percentages. Look at the total damage caused by people with guns and the total damage caused by people with P2P. That said, I don't have a problem with guns or p2p.
If the latter... that's kinda silly. No one would want to limit their market appeal. As great as I think Macs are, I would never expect a software company to limit their product to a single platform, no matter which platform we're talking about.
Take a look at console games, its the exclusive games that sell the system. The only reason to buy a gamecube for instance is to be able to play mario/zelda or other gamecube exclusives. Sony is in a similar situation with the final fantasy franchise. If Halo was released for all three consoles do you think anyone would have bought an Xbox? To clarify, I think the post you were quoting was suggesting that Apple pay a developer for exclusivity, and hopefully that developer will create a "killer app."
filtering tools work fairly well, but more importantly they work right now. Waiting for the authorities to "wake from their slumber" might take years, if it ever even happens.
I disconnected my land line just to see what would happen with my dsl. Its been three months and my dsl is still going strong. My ISP says it is still up because my telephone provider didn't do a thorough job of disconnecting me.
You have to show that you are capable of scientific research, i.e. capable of finding something new using scientific methods. And you are not done when you have passed your classes. You are done when your professor thinks that you are done.
It is just like this in the United States as well. But it certainly isn't a certificate for moral or ethical worth. I wonder where you got the idea that getting a PhD at American Universities was about taking classes? Perhaps you misread the parent post.
Our government has no authority over how healthy McDonalds is. Allowing them to sell substandard food doesn't even enter into it. If you're a fat ass, then its your own fault, although it is easier to pass the blame to someone else instead of taking responsibility for yourself.
Moral clarity? If the baby were to live would the mother get her money back?
Hopefully by that time the real estate market bubbles even more to make up for the fact that productivity is down so we can still look good on paper.
I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion about my views, but knock yourself out.

I wasn't the original poster.
you should have used the sarcasm tag
there is a toll rode in Italy where you pay more money the longer you stay on the road.

While "Deleting E-mail Could Get You In Trouble," not deleting it. will make you blind.
Is it only in California that they are called carpool lanes?
This is something I've been longing to know.

and one day soon the streets of Paris will be full of horse shit.
"getting laid in your own stormtrooper suit"
hopefully the wookie's hair won't catch in the armor.

as long as its not a hypercube...
ouch! You're the one quoting an episode of Saturday Night Live from 1986.
