...we should wait until the man makes, say, a single misstep, before we wonder what he could be doing better.
On top of that - who here wanted to play Doom and Quake because of the "mature content"? I've always been drawn to the FPS games because of the gameplay, not the gore. I'd suspect there are others who'd say the same.
(Though I guess I do have to admit to a certain affection for the strippers in Duke Nukem 3D...)
There are two big factors causing a decline in album sales:
The fact that radio playlists are shortening to something like thirty songs on typical pop, rock or even alternative stations.
The availability of all these songs for quick download.
The article states that over-40s are practically ignored by the media behemoths responsible for putting out most new music, but that that same age group is responsible for over forty percent of total cd sales. Why? Because the young people, the people who know how to get what few songs they hear on the radio for free, have virtually no reason to go buy the albums that are being put out.
"Slaugherhouse-Five" is the one that got me hooked, I must say. But I have special fondness for "Mother Night" and several of the pieces in "Welcome to the Monkey House," a collection of short stories.
Although Carter never made it explicitly clear in the show, isn't Mulder presumed to be Jewish?
He doesn't really claim to be Christian. I think that would be very out of character. It seems like he's just decided to try to "believe" there's some kind of higher power. That, to Mulder's character, might not be such a stretch.

1. The reason behind Kurst's sudden aid was never explained. His sudden character reversal was unsettling to me.
I think it's kind of implied that he's under the control of higher-ups, like Skinner was at one point.
2. I think they overdid the Smoking Man's demise. Sure, Carter probably had that shot of his face peeling away to the skull to appease all the fanboys who would claim he escaped death again. But the fanboys would say that anyway if Mulder shot him several times in the face then relieved himself on his dead body.
I agree. Very cheesy effects. Especially in a show that's always been well done, and largely so because they tend to know how to not explicitly show things.
People are going to talk each other in circles a lot over this one. The bottom line: you can decide not to tell them, which will improve your chances in finding a job, but which is also not the "right thing to do," or you can tell them, which will hurt your chances, but which is the ethical choice.
Look at the job market, and you make your decision, mister.
FWIW, you might not go on this vacation in 15 months. Maybe you'll be so into the job you'll want to work more. Maybe you'll decide to go earlier. Perhaps you'll knock some young lady up and have other things to deal with in 15 months. Maybe your friend will be abducted by sheep.
You just never know. (and so maybe it's better not to shoot yourself in the foot, no?)
Why would I care what language is or is not being taught in the curriculum? When I was in university, I was taught Fortran and Pascal in my first year. I was expected to learn any other languages needed for my subsequent courses, which included C, APL and Lisp. At that time, object oriented programming wasn't even part of the curriculum.
A good developer can learn new languages quickly; in fact, I wouldn't feel comfortable hiring a developer who felt that he needed formal training in a language in order to learn it.
I agree that a good developer can learn new languages quickly, but you have to learn a lot to become a good developer, and there are some languages that might be better to start with than others.
Personally, I think introductory cs courses should teach at least two different languages, to give the students some exposure. I'm thinking C (NOT C++) and ML.
I say not C++, because when I took my first class, we learned C++, and the differences between it and C were not discussed at all. I might seem silly, but I was mighty annoyed the first time I tried to read real C code and didn't understand it.
And I say ML because I had some brief experience with it in a course on programming languages, and loved it. Everything is short, sweet, and very, very to-the-point. I found it quite intuitive. I suppose other functional-style languages will work in its place...

Just one lowly geek's opinion.
...is how often they include cute, relevant, wacky different variations on their logo.
Right?

I think he's mistaking MSCS for MCSE.
Vonnegut is incredible. Everything I've read by him is great (and I've read almost all of his stuff).
Can somebody explain to me how I could possibly come up with a password that would take decades to crack? Or even years? I just don't see it.

December 22, 2012 seems like a great movie-release kind of date, leaving plenty of time for the writing of said movie.
And if it's about an alien invasion...well, I'll say it'll probably be better than Independence Day, and leave it at that..
I'm not very cynical these days, but I'm quite inclined to agree. The episode was great until it turned out the climax was nowhere to be found.
I'm glad I didn't watch for the past couple of years.
If only I could have the last two hours back...I could've used it for something more worthwhile... like playing Counter-Strike...
why just video games? Why not books? Newspapers? Movies? Hell, let's not even let parents buy these things! That way we'll all be safe.
...somebody left the latch up, and the pathfinder was rolling around in the garden again. That's all. ;p
B) I smell a poll!
Is it still on, maybe on the Sci-fi channel?
if you want to buy a computer from a major brand better go for one soon while you can still get all the perks
Perks?
Yeah. My mom's finger (not to mention her head) would explode after reading install instructions that say "Double-Click on ." =)
How about harnessing the power of underwater fart bubble? ;-)
;p
Yeah, split the "fart atoms" for a remarkable source of power. Especially after burrito night!

You make a good point. My school doesn't use Linux. Our *NIX labs are Solaris, and our OS class looks at FreeBSD primarily, I believe.

That's just my 0010 cents, though...
...that's what the Rock says...
*grin*
is that the guy's cat's name is "Flo," and the article is titled "Flo Control."
All your cute are belong to that.
Doesn't windows run on top of UNIX? ;p
Fark.com had a good caption for this story: "All your science are belong to us, old boy!"
Hee hee!
