    What you don't realize is that the civil servants, who are much closer to the policy making, are still employed. The contractors, who are following marching orders, are the ones who got canned.

    They've had a few close calls, but unlike the shuttle, the Soyuz capsule has modes of failure in which the cosmo/astronauts aboard do not die. Hell, a Soyuz rocket once exploded on the pad, and the astronauts aboard walked away from the incident with nothing more than minor injuries.

    I did it for 8 yrs for a large contractor. Very uninspiring when you realize that whether you sleep at your desk all year (for the token raise) or bust your butt (for an extra 0.5%), the company only cares the your seat is filled and the customer is mostly happy.

    Take a barrel full of water. Every minute, add a gallon of water and remove a gallon of water (plus or minus a tablespoon). Now repeat the same experiment, but this time, add a gallon plus a cup and only remove a gallon. Note what happens with the barrel's water level.

    Sure, be let's not assume that our climate is simply a barrel full of water. How about a half-full Olympic pool? I think that's where the whole debate should be. We definitely have an effect, but how big is that pool?

    A friend of mine is in that position right now - she's the bread winner, he's the stay-at-home dad - and they're going thru a divorce. They just had their initial proceeding - he gets the house and the kids, and she's paying the child and spousal support.

    There will be a blip in the other direction today, but Android gives users too many choices (providers, handsets, apps that don't have to get the approval nod from mommy) for it not to succeed.

    Not completely accurate - the NFL allows you to put any name you want on a jersey, but maintains a list of blacklisted names. For example, Ron Mexico, the name that Michael Vick used when getting treatment for an STD, can't be put on a jersey. But I'm sure you could put Miseph on one if you wanted.
