When you have a cold you're immune system is weaker, and antibiotics can help prevent extra infections, and kill off any opportunistic ones that happen to show up.
Well, I've taken about 25 credit hours of Chinese so far, and I have to say, Chinese characters are really not that hard.
I'm always amazed by Japanese students who say Kanji is so difficult. I suppose if you spent most of your time studying in Hiragana and Katakana without that much of a focus on Kanji. But really, Chinese Characters are mostly composed of other characters grouped together in space. Writing and remembering them is basically learning to spell on a two dimensional plain rather then a line... and with mostly short, small words. Nothing like English complex and irrational spelling like: "acupuncture", "through", "indefatigable", "anonymous", "hiragana" or what have you.
Personally, I think Chinese characters are actually easier to remember then the spelling of English words, and yes I am a native English speaker.
Don't you think that's a little strong? I mean, a lot of the higher quality Anime's have strong character and plotting, but not knowing every nuance of Japanese culture can't detract that much from the over all feeling.
I mean, I might miss a few little things, but I don't really think you need to know Japanese to appreciate Jin Roh or Akira. Even something set in contemporary Japan like Initial D comes across the language barrier. Anyone who loves cars would love that anime.
Maybe it would help more for the romance stuff like Oh My goddess and Tenchi Muyo, but who cares about that sissy crap:P
The comparison shot got me thinking. Suppose there was a flare, say 100 times larger then one of the common X class ones. Would the radiation be enough to whipe out life on earth?
Anyone have any idea. I suppose there really isn't much point in worrying about it though:P
You can get a gigabit over fairly long runs of cat5 copper
I don't think many people live less then 100m from the phone office
why do you need fiber? Do you actually anticipate having more than a gigabit of traffic to your house? It costs too much to terminate the stuff. People who buy a house just because it has fiber are missing out on reality.
Does anyone anticipate ever having more then 640k of ram? Think about how long a home is going to be around.
Was the use of images fair? Possibly, if they had been credited. But the fact that they tried to pass the work off as their own was plagiary, not just a copyright violation.
I mean, the author of the comic book probably would have been happy to let them use his images if they'd asked, really.

This site is nothing but a ploy to collect objectionable websites!
Ok, not really. I just wanted to use 'apparatchiks' in a sentence. Btw, autopr0n isn't filtered! Come on and visit, horny chinamen! (and horny Chinese lesbians too). Coincidentally, there happen to be lots of Asian chicks featured...
Clearly, you are much smarter then everyone else who might happen to enjoy well crafted and entertaining movies that don't happen to have storylines equaling the highest literary standards in academic America.
Your distain for Anime only hightens that point, as no truly intelegent person could enjoy artwork that moves for christ sake!
As far as the 'visual medium' goes the only thing that we've borrowed is the stylization of the characters. Animation was invented in the west. And that visual style was borrowed from early western style anyway.
I'm not saying that 'the west created everything' or anything like, obviously the japanese have really come up with the majority of advances in Animation lately, but I would hardly call it an "eastern visual medium"
I mean, I dunno. I would hardly call the CG one 'anime'. But what really should we call the others? Is all high quality animation amed at adults now "anime"?
Ah well, who knows. Btw, if you like this stuff you can find a bunch of Matrix inspired here here. Some of them are pretty cool.
Don't burn yourself out for this wanker. 8 hours a day is a totally reasonable limit for a job
Sure, sometimes coders spend a lot more time then that on their job, but that's because they enjoy it, because they want to spend that time working on code for their job.
If your boss is demanding you work 15 hours a day, quit.
Will it affect code quality? I don't really know. In the short term I doubt it, actually. Will it affect your quality of life? Absolutely. Will it affect employee satisfaction? Probably, and down the line that will affect code quality. If you don't like your job, you're code will definitely suck.
Consider the paragraph on the first page where he mentions that the protagonist loses commit privileges on CVS. I know what CVS is, but that's beside the point. I shouldn't have to, because CVS doesn't relate to the story at all!
You know what CVS means, I know what CVS means. If everyone knows what CVS means, then there is no reason not to use it. I don't see how its use could detract from your enjoyment of the story if it doesn't go over you head, other then to make yourself feel smarter then the author for finding flaws in his work.
Also, it does have meaning in the story, it showes that they wouldn't let him make changes to the code directly. Even people who don't know what CVS means spesificaly might pick that up.

Keep in mind that no more energy is going to be released by this thing then put into it, so the byproducts won't be all that bad.
The water breaks down the sodium and chlorine ions itself, the eletricity just pulls them apart, giving you chlorine gas (I think).
I don't see how it would be safe for humans, but whatever.
I mean, a group of minds is not the same thing as a group mind.
Getting into a barfight dosn't seem like something the borg would do.

Well, imagine if you downloaded an MP3, and then got a production job by claming that you had created it it.
That would be more like what happened, this is totaly diffrent simply downloading something and enjoying it without pay.
The image was just a composition from 3 seperate commic book frames.

I suppose if you were going to watch television, it might as well be inane television.
It was funded by american money, and the US was the primary target, I think.

Since when is anime low budget?

For the vast majority of web users, the HTML is not really a part of their experiance.
Havn't we had 'radio engenering' for like decades?
Just wondering.

In The Big U, the focus is Jayne's bicamerality of the mind
Um, what? I'm not even sure that book has a focus
