You're confusing cause an effect. A person says they are dead because they have determined that they have ascended to Heaven (or descended to Hell).

I'm just guessing but maybe he's refering to the Christian belief in "Judgement day". You know, When Jesus returns, the "dead shall rise", and all are judged. Those worthy get an E ticket to heaven (at that point in time) and the rest are left here on earth to suffer horribly amoung the poisonous locusts and the newly crated lakes of fire.

Please, someone who has a clue about this Judgement thingy please pipe up. It does seem to conflict with the "Mommy's in heaven now" statements you always hear from the clergy.

I don't think you got his point..

When the Chinese looked towards Japan (east) they see a rising sun, so the chinese characters for Japan represent a sun (ri4) and its origin (ben3). Japan didn't have a writing system of their own and through a protracted process adopted the Chinese characters even tho the language was totally different (approx 5th century). The character for ri4 meant "sun" and was mapped by the japanese to the word 'Ni' which meant the same. The chinese character (ben3) which meant "origin" was mapped by the japanese to the word 'hon' which also meant "origin"

Hence the Chinese (and thus Japanese) characters for Japan mean "Land of the rising Sun" AS SEEN FROM CHINA.

I see a contridiction here. Blacks assume whites are always racist, yet this is not a racial prejudice against white people? How is this not racism?

As a child, I went through a "Beat up the whities day" at Miramar Elementary, FL (pure racism). If I am overly suspicious and untrusting of Blacks am I NOT racist because I had an experience?

it's certainly not racist unless it implies an innate inferiority of certain races

Understand that racism has nothing to do with Minority or Majority status. It's merely making an assumption based upon race. If you think that Chinese people are smarter, that Blacks are better at sports, that Jews are better scientists then you are guilty of racism.

Don't confuse and mix up the definitions of racism, discrimination, and the experiences of the Black people in america. They experience a lot of racism, but that doesn't redefine the word so that it only applies to thier situation.

It seems that the large, flat expanses of Africa are more conducive to the evolution of bipedal locomotion; which is the most effecient form of leg-based movement for endurance and traversing long distances (bepedalism is essentially a pendulum).

I'm not sure if you meant "most efficient for humans". Otherwise Studies show otherwise..

    1. our Miocene hominoid ancestor was probably not an efficient quadruped since modern hominoids are inefficient quadrupeds, and 2. hominid bipedalism is as efficient as average mammalian quadrupedalism at normal speeds. The first point was proved by Taylor & Rowntree, who tested two chimpanzees for energetic efficiency during bipedalism and quadrupedalism and found the surprising result that the two patterns used about the same amount of energy. Both gaits used 50% more energy than the average quadrupedal mammal. Such a result makes sense because the hominoid body is adapted to a certain style of arboreal locomotion which makes terrestrial gait energetically costly. The second point is confirmed by recalculating the energy expenditure of humans and chimpanzees walking at normal speeds: the human energetic cost is about average for the mammals, but the chimpanzee still uses about 50% more energy per body weight.

    To sum up:
For non-human hominids, their is no efficiency gain for bipedalism.
For humans, bipedalism is the most efficient and we are the best at it,
but our best is only equal to the average mammalian quadruped gait.
and it just plain sucks to be a chimpanze on the ground no matter what.
