Look at the link above from extremtech from another poster. Apparently they got beat the system with a high res scanned photo and a hole in the middle. So apparently for some of the system, a live eye isn't that much necessary.
Because now instead of being beaten a bit and forced to give a 4 digit pin, I will get my eye cut from me and left bleeding and shocked. Thank you technology advance.

and by that I really mean psychologically and physically tortured. If you had been as some of us really were, you would recall their face a life long.
This has nothing to do with economic. Or better this has everything to do with all-out capitalism where people insert "clock" in items which there isn't normally a quick obsolescence and only to enhance artificially their sale by making the item WORST. The problem with such a system is that sooner or later you poison your own market where people starts to search for durable alternative or simply drop out if the items is not life necessary. In this case, my best guest is that for many 3.5e will not be a must have.
The natural partern of human society is to wide spread the info. At the lowest level from the highiest level "secret" spread like widefire. There is no intellectual property. Once you say it to somebody, it is gone in the WILD.
IP is the natural evolution of ULTRA CAPITALISTIC society, where everything from idea to DNA can be sold or stamped with a price. And I would dare to day that DRM and ultra big brother state is not the natural evolution of a human society or any police state, but this is the natural evolution of CApitalisitc society where everything can be controlled to be sold.
A bit like Neuromancer and its big corporation spionning on each other (Zaibaistsu ?) and the nation which are never mentionned because powerless:).

Dataprotection in EU si not about where the data is stored. It is about having the right to know, check , and correct data stored on YOU , EU citizen. Likewise like USA saying they have the right to Sue/pursue people having done sales in the USA, when you do have a transaction with somebody in the EU what count is not where you store the data , but the fact that you have per see a contract/sale with somebody resident in EU.
Else this would have been YEARS that every EU firm would have put their Data server in some off shore haven.

Having done both at competition level I can say you I was far more tired after making a conference than having competed for my university team. At worst, brain usage is still consumming more of the ressource your body has than ever a sport will make you do.
That said, brain & intellectual stuff is deprecated in comparison to art, sport, game and what so ever and this is truly a shame. The outside apparence has over won over the inside.

And then I free'ed myself and exploded the score to finish at the very top. The difference with Uni is that average people and most of my "tortionaire" were filtered by the system and popularity was "out" or not as important as having truly friends and fun together. There wasn't a top or bottom.
Fact is that you cannot even if you want , read the lcience and give back the software if you refuse it , sicne you have to open FIRST the package.
That you do read or not is beside this fact.
Why should US people going in other country be trusted ? Let us force the US have biometric Visa and passeport with finger print, saliva sample, skin and DNA sample, hair sample all on a chip, face recognition on 100 points etc...

My opinion : resist. If they do not want you fine, good ridance, unless you REALLY need the job : the firm doesn't seems that good anyway seeing how it suppose its employee are presupposed evil and bad , whereas they should be considered as a ressource to take care. They probably have a high turn over.

* when the cost of handling/steering developper in too many country with timezone change overcome the win of having cheap people
* overall when too much riches are otusourced to other countries (job,firm, products) at a certain point the economy cease to profit from it. Why ? because for the simple reason that if there is too much people too dirt poor to buy something in a country, then firm don't sell even if their outsourced product are dirt poor. In other word, when too much perople locally lost their job, even if you sell dirt cheap product because now you produce them from India, then you still won't sell a crumble. Except maybe to indian.
...at various klevel (school, high school, university) we had a Gaussian of note as it should be. Depending on how the class was and how well the subject was udnerstood the guassian middle was 9 to 12 (C- and D+ to C+). I never saw or heard of an average being aside those note. oh sure there is a slighty difference when you go to some exam level like baccalaureat 8which is worth nothing and is overgraded not due to kids getting better but govt wanting better grad. All other level stay the same.
Maybe other people will offer another picture or maybe somebody can offer link to public study on france but I doubt the insight will be different on many ground.
First the way we note and make exams is different as far as I can tell (never heard of Multiple Choice exams until I saw an US film on high school). Second enrollement at Uni is handled differently making professor and course about as independant to note and grading as you can make it be.

25 Years later. Oh let us rise the period to 37 years. Retroactive. After all the copyright holder financed the work and has to get a return !
10 years later (35 years after the 1st work has been done under this law) Ho 37 is not enough, let us rise with a new law to say, 56. This is fair isn't it ? Oh, and it is retroactive.
10 years again later... We are abck to 74/98 years of copyright. With prolongation if the holder pay a small symbolic sum. Retroactively.
I certainly would not want such law as a consummer.
Let me explain : militair/scientist wants to be able to send their stuff in space and make it cheaper and easier but they have only THEIR application in mind. Whereas the public [private people and corporration] would have all sort of applicaiton in mind (some silly some very interresting).
So a widening of the space usage to the public would probably allow for more efficient launcher, more research and discovery , (and more accident too...). But it certainly would be a better return to the humanity in general than spy satellite and the ISS.
It all comes down to the radius of usage. If it jam everything within Mile this is obviously illegal and dangerous. Within a few meter it would be still illegal (jammer in all form are mostly illegal because you actively sabotage a device usage) but not dangerous.
