    How is Internet or any TCP comnmunication different than a real phone, or a letter ? As far as I can tell to watch over and tap your phone or letter authroity need a special judge writing. So why suddenly Internet which is only another form of communication , is soooo different that it need to be surveyed in real time ?

    Second, any terrorist communicating message not encrypted over, hidden in picture or other data, or using a code word system is already a dead or arrested terrorist. How THIS system is supposed to rpeevtn another 9/11 when the FAILURE of theuautorithy was to INTERPRET THE DATA and NOT get the data ?

    Call me a paranoid , but if you control the communication between people, you control the people too. It looks more like population control than terrorism fight.

    To answer your question Kisrael, I started with ASM (to udnerstand how the beast functionned inside) then learned pascal (2.0 ?) later. Basic ? Never used it until I was in school, and really, It was only for 6 monthes until the school switched to pascal.

    My first game was U5. On a PC. Soon after I started learning programming. For me it did *go* hand in hand. be creative and play.

    If people by only console to their kids it will remain just that : A toy. PC have the enorm advantage that you can use them for some, anything, else.

    My bet ? My generation had a lot of kido starting learning programming on PC. The next won't, Console will be widespread, and thus less and less kids will go for the IT industry.

    And console don't make a kid/teen/young adult get acquinted to technology per see, as using a MW oven don't make you acquinted with Electromagnetic physic. Our Kids will be as "technology analphabete" as our aprents...

    personally whatever the decision ground8economical, buisness, Customer support, $$$) I don't care. i think it is a good idea because so much things screwing the conomics of the game which put me off in other RPG are simply higher level char having a quasi monopoly on goods and all stuff on alts.

    Now if *everybody* is limited to 1 char... Then one can hope to balance economy a bit better. I wasn't interrested in SWG. Now I am !

    Where do you think engineering got its grade ? Without the equation of physic and science engineering would not go past the "try and retry again randomly until it looks OK". Engineering IS NOT independant of science. It is one of its Offspring : application of scientific law (be it physics, mathematic or biology).

Corporation are not "that" old, and they are only a result of the "free enterprise" spirit. Corporation are formed by the people. Don't give more credit to corporation than they really should get.

    Easy. Just don't eat for a week or so as to get a terrible face, don't sleep either. Then shave completly your head. Your face will be gaunt and you *will* looks like a cancer patient. Then wait that a few false alarm happen in the media, go in the subway.

    When the alarm sound have some faked paper about a cancer treatment by radiation. When the guy come to you jsut show the paper. Chance are that in a year or so after so much false alarm they let you thru after seeing you (now really bad looking and not looking like a terrorist).

    Think the scenario is far etched ? Think again. Human can also be pavlov trained to ignore false alarm if they come too often. That is why setting a detection level in an alarm is a science in itself.

    Maybe you are right, but the study on cross polinisation make a lot of people kinda warry in EU, and a lot of people there says that definitly 3 or 4 years was not enough to study the complete "life" cycle and possible jump a gene might make between plants, and the possible bad results of , say, a gene resisting desherbant into a wild specy.

    And when such SLOPYNESS comes to light, I can certainly give reason to people asking for more study of impact.

    * Historical Reason : Most people only want to learn one OS at most, except maybe a minority of interrested Geeks. So people learn windows at works then just use the same at home.
    * Easyness of use. Even if linux get better , let us be real. Installation and usage of windows is far easier for people which know nothing of PC. Furthermore again due to historical reason everybody can tweak a bit of windows or know someone which can.
    * Games ! Applications ! Plus this is the same applications than at works, emaning you don't need to learn two software to do the same things. Need I say more ?
    * All that which anger OOS suporter (API non disclosure, Monopoly, blatant skewing of market power to force the hands of people, new licence scheme) is completly LOST on non-geek people. This is a sort of "negative" argument.
    * and due to the above points, the mega super argument it comes already installed on the PC of first time user, and thus unless geek they will stay on that forever.

    She was already in telephonic contact with the person. So if ther email had bounced back, there would have been chance that the person CALLED her. It did not so neither the Sender , nor the receiver were aware an email was sent/not read.

    And as such , the telco is responsible to either completly block the service or completly allow it. Not an half way.

    EU is a free market zone. That is nobody can forbid you to buy car, nintendo game, or whatever in a EU country and resell it in another country for Cheaper. Car dealer and Nintendo did. that is why they were fined. they did not respect the law. And we as people see the money back. in form of infrastruture and other stuff. the same way when somebody is fined by the local governement but on EU scale.

    On My planet (Earth) People don't reason, they use violence first then try to work out reasonable reason for having used their violence (if they *ever* to begin to try to work out anger...).     Well private property maybe, but not quite firm property. How many firms did simply drop their dioxine in water ? Bury cyanide and other polluant ? Remmember Seveso ? What cares cow cattler or goat/pig herder that the water under their farm is undrinkable due to various polluant concentrateed by their cattle ? What you say is *ONLY* true of people living on their land. The rest (farmer or even worst , firms which do not exploit the land but have to be situated somewhere) usually won't care unless the govt rub their nose in it by health law on maximum polluant tolerable in earth/water. And IMO, that is why current Bush's politic to make pollution and reduction of polluant a desisater. A lot of firm have simply no incencitive at all to reduce their pollution , because they have no direct link to public (so PR don't work) and it would simply eat at their benefice without bringing them anything on the plus side.

    Until they had a really good absis to begin with, USA did not respect any intellectual property at all. this was only at the end of the 19th century, beginning of the 20th when they began to have soem advance that they began to really think hard on intellectual property.

    And now that they seems to have a big advance, they wnt to "lock out" of the system the concurrence. thus WIPO, thus pressure to rise IP protetcion decennies, thus other pretty law.
