Now try to compare the cost of a normal book to the cost of *EACH* article online. And try to tell us those cost are for the publishing. That's a big fat lie.

If you show only 1 month sure XP is stomping Win8. But the real statistic is when you show the last 12 month. In 11 month win 8 rose from 0% to 7.5% and is not slowing down in the last month. In the same time windows XP dropped from 27% to 20%. Win7 stayed stable. So what does it says me ? Everybody getting a replacement is getting win8. Win8 will in time, maybe 1 year, maybe 18 month, win and XP disappear. So your reference to the statistic was misleading.

I keep reading horror story told to me by American friend on how in Europe you have to wait for 6 weeks for exams, and how we are bled dry with health care cost or whatnot, and how universal healthcare is terrible. Hu. No. When I had a serious headache they made xray, MRI, everything possible within 1 week. When i had a stomach pain they made a camera in my stomach (can't recall how that operation is called) and took photo of the lesion, the same day, then within a few day (2?3?) got an answer from biopsy. I have never met somebody with a potential condition being in a waiting line. Also got my MRI retest 1 year after, to check if what is my head grew, within, what , 3 or 5 days of asking for it.
What turned me off Linux based OSes 10-12 years ago was the amount of text file hacking that was required to get a usable system.

Well the 90ies called back. As a normal user you have not needed to edit the registry in windows for *ages* (and even then it is relatively a simple matter of finding the correct key). I was still lately editing some config file or others in any linux version with arcane format.

But then again the program (books) and what needs to be learned is decided on the national level. You can't really do bad stuff as you mention, because then you would be kicked in the butt rapidely and thrown out. The reverse of the medail, is that you can't do great stuff either, youa re constrained by the program. All in all it sounds to me the public school system in the US is so bad, because it is neither directed nor united on the fed level, making it a crapshot on what you will get taught.
