Don't think of it as a mascot, think of it as a legacy mark. Face it, the Mario legacy has stood the test of time. The only one from another company that even compares is Sonic, they had to make good popular games to obtain that status as well. So far Sega has proven itself as a good 3rd party provider. They had some good consoles, but with the exception of GameGear they were never undoubtably the best on the market. (and that unfortunately failed anyways) They were the best on the market several times, but there were other systems close enough that they just cut each others throats. I'm thinking Jaguare vs. 3DO vs. Saturn. Then it was DreamCast vs. PlayStation and the "lets wait for the PS2".
I'll admit, they got the short end of the stick on that, but as a 3rd party developer they strengthen the other systems.
Everyone store a goatse, tubgirl, weightlifter, whatever pic on their phone. You get bluejacked reply with the pic. When someone barfs or throws their phone/whatever you know whos ass to kick.
Microsoft is developing a new operating system code named CLI. The release name of the project is expected to be "DOS NT".

Once Pandoras box is opened, closing it may not do much good. But you're right, for their own interest MS might have wanted to go with what the guy suggested.
Then again everyone finding out about the Macs may not be to big of an issue and this guy just sat once heck of an example to keep the rest of the employees in line.
I don't like MS. Yeah, some might say I was an OSS zealot. When I gave up MS at home I went as far as to give away my MS Wheel mouse and replaced it with a Logictech.
Chances are he signed paperwork saying that he couldn't disclose company secrets. He took the pic at work and posted it on the web, there are often policies about this. He let the world know what MS was up to.
No matter how much I like MS they did exactly what they should have done.
I know I'm up to my neck in NDAs and ethics processes, something like that would be a direct violation of all of them. I even try not to talk about what I do to my wife. Coporations keep secrets for a reason.
maybe the old purple ones, but I've got a black Cube. It sits on top of one of my JBLs, next to the big Mitsubishi HDTV which has all the stereo components on it. The only thing that looks out of place is the grey on the front of the console and on the Wavebird reciever in one of the game ports, and that mostly blends in anyways. I would say my cube looks just as at home in my living room as the DVD player.
I've said many times letting Rare go was one of the biggest mistake the big N could have ever made. Something about Rare seemed to just go with Nintendo. I'm sure Conker Live and Uncut will be fun on the XBox, but it just wont be right. Like the fact I can turn on my gameboy right now and play Sonic the Hedge Hog not right. At least it seemed not right at first.
Now that I've played some Sega Games on the Gameboy and the Gamecube Sega may pick up some of the slack left over from Rare. Rare was kick-ass with Killer Instinct, Conker and Donkey Kong, but that's old Nintendo. Nintendo really needs to make sure they keep a good relationship with Sega and maybe even seduce them into the type of relationship they had with Rare. I'm playing Skies of Arcadia Legends on the cube right now. I'm impressed. Nearly everything Sega has put on Nintendo hardware has impressed me, and Skies of Arcadia is a 3/4 year old port of a Dreamcast game.
If Rare pumps out garbage after going to MS they wont make it long and I doubt MS will let them go back to Nintendo. I've always wanted to play Perfect Dark on a PC. I was hooked after I got it for my 64 and I've always wanted to try it with a real video card and the standard mouse/keyboard combo. Laptop gun anyone? But with MS holding the keys, the chances of a Linux port of the game engine seems some what slim, so I wont be able to play it anyways.
Here's an idea to throw out to all the Rare developers who think joining MS was a bad idea: Jump ship, go to work for Sega, talk Sega into making more Nintendo games than other types.
am I the only one who sorta liked GOOD VS. EVIL even thought it was kinda hokey?
How about FIRST WAVE, that was a damn good original SciFi show, co staring a porn star no less! Seems like it had another good season or two left in it.
I agree. Stay out of West Texas. Especially if you want to make a living. Hey, I didn't pick this nick cause it sounded cool, I picked it because it fit. Stay out of West Texas alright, most my families fled and we're hoping the rest fleas.
My father-in-law and I fired up my old Atari 2600 a few months back. First of all an Atari 2600 on a 36" Trinitron just seemed wrong in its own right, but that didn't stop us.
After a couple of bouts with of Combat covering tanks, planes, and Zepplin vs planes the kids were getting really interested (6 year old nephew was there to). It didn't take long to get the kids hooked on Circus, they loved the how the little guy kicked his feet in the air after he hit the ground. They found my Spiderman cart. Spiderman on the 2600 was pretty complicated for a 2600 game, and I knew it wasn't something they would like, but thanks to the movie and the recent surge in Spiderman popularity they were drawn to it like moths to flames. I had to play for them, they gave up quickly but they were going to let their giving up stand in the way. It was a 2600 fest for several hours, my only problem is the old switchbox I had kept going to black and white, oh well. Oh yeah, they insisted on E.T. also.
That night aside my daughter loves the NES. My wife got Bubble Bobble used from Game Stop specificaly for the two of them. She plays Dr. Mario everytime she gets a chance, and for some damn unexplainable reason she's drawn to licenced games. She insist on Ghost Busters, it frustrates the hell out of her because the game has always sucked and when she does manage to talke me into playing she gets bored with it. But next time like a moth to flames.....
She plays the SNES quite a bit to. I got her hooked on UniRacers - purposely, I figured it was easy enough for her to get the hang of. Her cousin plays that with her whenever he's around. She loves Mario World, thanks to another cousin it has been redubbed "Mario Saves the Day". Of course she would rather watch me play that instead of play on her own. That niece it 8.
When they all get together it's time to fire up the N64. Remember, at this age the N64 is classic gaming. Ditty Kong racing, 4 controls, 3 in the hands of kids, one with me doing my best not to kick all their butts and win every time.
One good/bad thing about it. My daughter enjoys wathing me play as much if not more so than playing herself. I get game time because of this. The bad thing is it's not always a game I want to play, and of course theirs the constant 6 year old questions and annoyances.
I'm playing Skies of Arcadia Legends right now on the Cube, because I want to, not because she wants me to. She's hooked on that now. Now it's putting up with eaither reading for her, waiting half an hour for her to read it herself or summerizing whats going on. Being an RPG anything to do with managing equipment or running around town talking to people gets "This is boring, go fight comments", fortunately being the dad I can so "You're annoying, go take a bath". Atari2600 to GameCube, all Nintendo systems sans Virtual Boy inbetween. I thik my daughter has classic gaming covered.
I thought they were bigger because of the console design itself. At the time in the US we were suffering from the screw ups of Atari and other older console manufactures. Nintendo wanted something that didn't look like a toy and wanted to go front loading to further diferientiate itself from the competition. The cartridges were made for a front loading system. We obviously didn't have a problem with the smaller Coleco Vision, Atari 2600, or Intelivision cartridges that preceaded the NES. One of my friends in highschool was an immagrant, he had the "Family Computer" system with a ton of mostly pirated games. Thats when I knew Nintendo lied to us about saying the amount of ROM space was the main culpret behind not having bigger games. The 2600 had bank switching, the pirate carts proved the NES could do it to. With the exceptions of the permanently attached controls and the pointless Mic being built into the controls I like the SNES style layout of the Family Computer much better than the NES.
In unrelated events I joined the board right after 9/11.
All the news sites were choked, it was a global slashdotting x 10 on all of them, so I figured I would read their message boards since I had been reading the comics for a while.
Hackles rocks, but I only read it once every week or two since they produce so few comics. The only other online comic I read is chopping block.
Hackles has the potential to be as big as UserFriendly, they just have to put their name out there and build up a community.

I don't know if I want to do a victory dance for a good review, criticize you for being closed minded, or agree with you for pointing out some obvious but real problems.
I do not blame the government for all of our problems, nor do I think it's the governments place to fix all of them, especially the federal government when the states should be handling their own affairs. I am not a fan of Janet Reno, nor did I completely trust her reasons for being there. This raid could have been better handled, and ultimately I think it was poor handling that caused the tragic ending, regaurdless of who set the fire.
I may be a scum bag, though many disagree, you however are a coward.
The cult didn't spring up on Monday then get ATF'ed on Tuesday. There were families that left the cult. It sprung up initialy as a disagreement with he 7th Day Adventist Church. There were those that left well before the raids, those that left right before, and those that left during.
Would a 12 year girl and her mother both talking about it not be good enough? If not how about the 14 year old girl and her father? If the testimonies of the victims and their parents who were guilty for allowing it happen wasn't enough how about the evidence from the doctors who examined them?
I am a full supporter of freedom of religion and the second ammendment. If it were just a bunch of religious zealots hoarded up somewhere with weapons thats fine leave them alone. Chances are if you leave them alone they'll leave you alone unless it's a group like the Alquida that wants to kill us all.
No, like many others I wanted to call the cult innocent victims of the government, I really did. After reading about what Howell did I changed my mind. All women on earth are his to claim, hey, if I was in his position and I thought I could get away with that, why not? But when he didn't make a right of passage age that was in the leagal, or even moral bounds they needed to torch him personally. All of his followers in that compound needed to be punished, but not necessarily executed. Guns fine, religion fine, making 12 year old girls wear tampons to stretch them out enough to accept him, burn him.

now if Sega will make a sequal to Skies of Arcadia legends for it I'll be all set. Sorry PS2 guys, Mario will forever beat your iconless system.

At least they don't have a Hello Kitty version. Seems there's a Hello Kitty Everything.
now that I re-read that:

I used to use that a lot, I always thought it was fun to watch all the backspacing everyone did do to poor spelling.
