  1. Re:Lovely. on EA Obtains Exclusive NFL Licensing Rights · · Score: 2, Interesting

If EA gets their way, the NFL won't be the only sports license that they have exclusive rights to; they're also trying to get their hands on exclusive rights to the NBA and MLB (baseball). I think we can rationally guess that EA's attempt to buy up all the rights to ESPN (Visual Concepts) extremely strong sales this year due to the $19.99 price tag and excellent reviews on their games.

So basically, what's EA's response to a better product being produced for less money? Force their competition out by buying all the licensing for their particular brand of games.

  2. Re:Surely not an iPod Mini slayer on Rio Reveals iPod Mini Slayer · · Score: 2, Interesting

Man, I don't know why everyone continues to say that the iPod is the only mp3 player with a good UI. I own a Creative Nomad MX, and you'd have to be next to retarded not to be able to operate it. Drag and drop mp3s across to the Nomad using USB 2.0, alter title/author/album names of multiple tracks with two clicks of the mouse, along with being able to browse through your entire library by the name of the song, artist, album, genre, or just pull up a playlist. Besides, who wants to spin their thumb in a circle for a few minutes looking for an artist or song on their iPod when you can use a much more functional scroll wheel like on the new Rio or on the Nomad? As good as the iPod might be, it definitely isn't ahead of the competition on any means except for it's brand appeal.

I work for an ISP, and that's basically how we handle billing disputes. We're a bit more lenient if a customer hasn't used their account in a couple months and would like a refund on the current bill; however, companies can't call up and make sure that you would like to renew your subscription each month/year. If you didn't update your email address or phone number, and agreed to the TOS, your luck in getting a refund without being a jerk to billing is pretty much nil.

Although they say on their site that NS 3.0 supports Steam (which most players hate) and WonID, they don't make any mention about how to play it without Steam. The official Natural Selection forums are down right now, so this should help anyone trying to play the game without Steam. After downloading it and letting it install to your steam account directory, make a copy of the nsp directory and place it in your Half-Life dir. Same arguments apply for 3.0 as in 2.1, but replace the -game ns with -game nsp. Still though, I'm only able to see two active 3.0 public servers. Could be because it has gotten such an ill reception from the NS crowd, or maybe the clan servers are playing private for a bit. I would sure be interested in finding out what's up.

You can get a brand new GBA for $60. One of the reasons that many people get GBAs for their kids is that they are $60. Who would buy their 10 year old a $300 portable game system? I wouldn't trust one with something that expensive.

Sony is betting on selling the PSP to the market of teens-early 30 somethings, not as a toy for adults to get for their kids. That's what they think GBAs are for.

  11. Re:Screw that 'test' shit on What the Candidates are Running · · Score: 1

What if we stoped voting for the President. Instead, we take advantage of the elector system that is already in place. The potential electors of each state could come up with a list of issues that they thing are important for choosing a presedent. The ballot would then alow you to state your position on those issues. the electors would then look at what the people wanted a and vote for the presedent who's platform mostly resembled those values.

Sounds find in theory, but then the public would be flooded constantly with polls to determine the most popular stance on EVERY issue, and then about 1,000 canidates who all ran on the exact same platform.

I think the most important issue is to stop people from voting strictly on party lines. Of course people ususally support whatever their party's stance is (that's why they joined that party in the first place), it seems as though people are too afraid to vote on the outsiders of their party, or to even switch sides when their party leverages a shitty canadite.

BTW, whoever brought up that idea for a "test" to vote? That's a real nazi like idea, buddy.

  14. Not Sega, just Sega Sports (ESPN) on Eidos To Stop GameCube Development · · Score: 1, Troll

The lack of ESPN Sega Sports games on Gamecube has far less to do with slagging sales and more to do with the fact that Gamecube's memory cards are tiny compared to what a big sports game with a Franchise mode really needs for storage. If the Gamecube had a larger storage standard, they'd probably still have Sega Sports games. Saying that Sega won't continue supporting the Gamecube would be wrong.

  17. Re:FFXI is a MMORPG on Final Fantasy XI U.S. Website Opens · · Score: 1

The big problem I had was the highly scripted nature of FFX. The game felt like a movie with a couple of clicks here and there, but it was too linear. To make FFXI raise the bar, I hope they addressed this issue, and I'm guessing they did. I don't think I'm alone in thinking that what makes a game great is game play

Maybe you're thinking of FFX2 when you fear about another linear, game-based movie; however, FFXI is actually a MMORPG, so don't get worried about an abundance of movies with some monster-slaying in between. If you don't like linear games, well, can't always have your cake and eat it too. :)
