What the hell does that iPod service *do* anyway? I've killed it before, and everythingin iTunes still seems to work. Same goes for the iTunes Helper service.
Unfortunately, there is no way to mass-select a bunch of files to (a) exclude them from the shuffle (i.e., spoken word programs like audiobooks or podcasts) (b) Tell iTunes to make them bookmarkable (again, like podcasts or audiobooks)
I think that either of those things is just, if not more, valuable than mass-setting the track name.
Lots of people here have run Linux or a Unix variant on very similar hardware. Surely they knew already the kind of performance they would get out of it, since OS X is basically unix under the covers. I don't think this should really be a surprise to many.
Google is helping them by allowing them to easily find sites that have said copyrighted images on them. How would the magazine know about these infringements if it weren't for google?
Yes they were. After Obi-Wan gets knocked into the water of that mining planet when the clone troopers turn on him, he swims to the surface and pockets one of those devices.
With a 1.2 MP camera, and the ability to play OGG Vorbis, the Palm Zire 72 and my 512 meg SD card will last me for a while. Especially with the new Wi-Fi SDIO cards coming out.
I have been listening to ogg vorbis files for months now using my Palm Zire 71 and Aeroplayer. I got myself a 256 Meg SD card and I was off to the races.
MP3 is just another word in most people's vocabularies now. It's similar to "Kleenex vs. tissue" or "Q-Tip vs. cotton swab". When people say to go download an MP3, they really mean download some music in miscellanious format.
I would sooner take an ogg than an mp3 anyday though;)
But is it 10 or 100 mbps ethernet? Everything USB device I plug in now seems to require more power than my hub can give it. If I could just copy the files over to it with ethernet the world would be a better place.
Oh my god. I can't believe there are people out there still listening to 128 kbps MP3s. They are horrific. I can't even *listen* to an MP3 unless it's at least 192. I won't rip anything at less than 256.
I'm not one to buy 'directional' speaker cables, or even debate the merits and shortcomings of coaxial vs. optical digital cables, but I *do* know there is definately a discernable difference between Dolby Digital and DTS (DTS kicks ass!) and that DVD-A is far, far superior to CDs.
For me, it's not a question of if I *would* buy DVD-A discs, its whether the music I like is available on that media. the only thing that seems to be out on DVD-A is jazz, and one token disc from every other genre. I can't wait until the format becomes more prevalent.
This actually isn't the case, because biodiesel can be made from waste products, such as the oil from a deep fryer. How many fast food joints are there in North America again? Exactly. Our own retarded lifestyle will keep us going:)
I use my iPhone for an alarm clock, so I guess I'm in that 35%.

Anybody actually know what they're for?

Maybe if the prize was something useful, I might be interested. I have my hands full exploiting MySpace.

Yeah, I know...I live in Canada. Born and raised. I just think that joke is still funny :)
There is also a 2.0 TB version, but I couldn't find it again.
If you have the funds, this looks promising.
:)
LaCie Biggest F800 1.6TB RAID Storage 300943U (USB 2.0, Firewire 800).
It's only CAD $2,599.99, so that's like US $100
The only legitiment emails I have ever had go into the spam folder have been ones from mailing lists.

"Rackspace, Indymedia, and the FBI" kind of sounds like a hip-hop group. I can't wait for their next album.

Check it!
Of course, I live in Canada and listen to CBC every day so maybe I don't count.
If you launch Remote Desktop with the /console command line option, you can connect to an existing, logged-in console session.

"Apple Chief Financial Officer Fred Anderson has said that the Windows launch of iTunes would be a Trojan horse".
My, that certainly is a bad choice of terms for a computing product.

Just not in the front seat ;)
Think of all the (commercial free) streaming audio channels that you could listen to instead of the crappy radio stations that exist right now.
I have only used bladeenc. Is there much of a difference?

Anybody know what exactly is cut out of this version? 8 minutes seems like a lot.
