I thought you were full of it until I tried to find one online. I've seen them at my local Walmart in the past and assumed they wouldn't be too hard to find.
Doesn't really matter to me though unless someone comes up with a hack to play Mario Kart across the internet. I don't have too many friends to begin with, let alone ones that have a GC and would want to lug it + a TV over to my house.
P.S. I did finally find one online at amazon

If I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy a book, I'd like to have something more than a poor attempt at humour to help me make that decision. His review would be better suited as a +5 funny follow-up comment to a real review.

I may be wrong here but doesn't the average person buying a computer from DELL with XP on it also get a copy of Office pre-installed?
It may not be free, but it's not like they have to drive down to Best Buy, pick up a copy and then mess around with installing it.

There seemed to be a lot of silly nit-picks in the article (i.e. "When I want to find out the day and date, or check a date a few months ahead, I'm used to clicking on my little KDE clock and having a calendar pop up for me. I can't seem to do this in Windows") but I was glad to see him make a point in the closing paragraphs that a great deal of problems are simply due to changing habits you've already developed.

The copy/paste issue is a good example of that. I use Windows more than Linux but have that same problem because I use putty a lot which copies stuff to the clipboard just by selecting it. It's not uncommon for me to select text in another app and forget to actually copy it because I'm used to the way putty works so I end up pasting the wrong thing. Even better than that is when I accidentaly type vi commands in notepad. :)

Do you have any idea why that is? I have a little problem with Verizon Wireless that seems to fall into that category. They agreed with me and took it off but then I got a letter from a new collections agency and it popped up again.
I got the impressions from Verizon Wireless that if the collections agency didn't delete the charge from their system, they would just eventually sell it to another collections agency. I don't really intend on disputing this charge for the rest of my life.

At least I don't think there's a Linux version of Eudora. I've never used it very much.

Being able to use the same app under both OSes will definitely be a big plus. Especially if your plan is to make other less technical people comfortable with using Linux.

Back when I was in college, I had a job at a local computer shop. They had a contract with my college to set up student computers for the network.
Anyway, I was hired to do that part time and then go back to the shop and do normal repair for customers. Things were getting kind of slow with the student network setups.
So one morning I checked my email and saw that I had an email from the owner/boss. He said something along the lines of 'Please stop in to help the other guy with student computers and then after that we won't really need you any more because things are slowing down with the student setups and the contract isn't being renewed'.
Apparently he forgot about telling me before that he wanted to train me and have me get some certifications, leading me to believe I had a future there even after I graduated.
I do realize that they probably needed someone working full time that could be in the shop or go out on calls more often than I could. However, he could have had the decency to tell me the truth or at least tell me in person instead of in an email.

Something I've wondered about is if there will ever be a time when companies decide that they only want to advertise through product placement. No more interrupting a show for a commercial break. It seems like that would be a more effective means of advertising. Like you said though, that doesn't work so well for sci-fi.
It would be really silly to see Captain Archer enjoying a nice refreshing vanilla coke with Trip while they talk about how they were only able to catch that Xindi because they can run so much faster in their Nike alien-terrain running shoes.
So if a time comes when the majority of advertising is through product placement, sci-fi shows may have a hard time with funding. Either that or they'll be such a blatant advertisement that nobody will watch.

They're fairly slow so you can run circles around them. If all else fails, you can just throw something over their eyes and trick them into shooting each other. What's scary about that?
