    There are large sections of code that havent been touched since 1.x releases. Linux frankly runs for shit on anything other than x86, despite all the claims of all the different systems it runs on. Too much PC specific cruft.
    Would you like to provide some evidence to back up this little "fact" of yours?

    OSS is not in competition with Windows. Why should it, most OSS developers write code for their own personal amusement, and at the point of NEED.

    Yes, Linux is "behind". It will always be "not as shiny" as Windows. It represents the commodity option, and Microsoft will collapse under it's own weight because of it.

    Please stop spouting this "competition" crap, it is annoying those who actually work to make OSS what it is.

    The heat exchanger in the Cray 2 supercomputer used this same technique. Heat was transferred from the fluorocarbon in which the cpu circuits were immersed into an open-air water sytem.

    It even came with it's own glass waterfall thingy to keep the board happy.

    Off the top of my head, just think how much better the sound of low bitrate MP3/WMA/Vorbis etc would be if the quantization harmonics were masked with the more musically-correlated harmonics suggested by the overload properties of valves.

    It's well known and accepted that valve distortion sounds better than transistor distortion. Just ask a guitarist.

    This is one of the most interesting, most scientific treatment of the difference between valves and transistors and how they effect the sound of limited dynamic range recordings I have read.
