I had a similar experience. During the last election, I got no calls from Democratic campaigns, but I did receive several calls from Republican campaigns. Three times, they called trying to register me to vote, and about five or six times, I got the same annoying recorded phone call from Senator Pete Domenici stumping for Congresswoman Heather Wilson.
I wouldn't say that the quality of all consumer electronics has faded, so much as some of the major name brands have gotten noticeably worse. There is still some very high-quality stuff out there. You just have to do research now. You can't just look at the name brand when deciding what to buy.
Imagine your ISP charged you $1 per GB for everything you downloaded(tiered bandwidth, like a lot of cable companies), and someone decided that they would misuse current technology, and make you download a bunch of stuff that you didn't want, like pop-up ads for things you would never buy or may already own, and the data that makes those ads pop-up.
Now imagine that you could block that data, saving yourself money, and preventing the forced spending of your money(ie, theft).
What these people don't seem to get is that we have no contract with them. They've simply put the site out in the open for anyone to access. If they want to charge for the site, go for it, but accusing people of theft when they've commited no such theft is just childish.
It's the people that have pop-ups on their site who are the leeches. They're stealing our bandwidth, and I
It means that for the average person, it is harder to learn. Over a given period of time, the average person's knowledge(read:beginner, not a tech) will learn less than with a different distro. This would make the graph of the learning curve steeper.
With a draw in the planned eight games, you are less likely to need a ninth game. In best-of-eight, a 4-4 tie is possible, but at this point, unless there is another draw, a ninth game definitely won't be needed, as the closest the match can be without another draw is 4.5-3.5
If you're hoping for a ninth game tie-break, you still might not be out of luck, since with two very high-rated opponents, mistakes are more rare, and draws become more likely.
The date each domain was registered is irrelevent here. What matters is whether ebay/PayPal's system predates Amazon's "idea".
According to c|net, Amazon's system debuted some time after 2001, but PayPal dates back to 1999, so PayPal clearly has been around longer, and Amazon should not receive this patent.
I was surprised that out of the two Senators and one House Representative I contacted, one of them (Sen. Pete Domenici, [R-NM]) actually even wrote back, saying that he would take my letter into consideration when voting on the bill, but you're right, I never did get a completely straight answer.
Why the hell do people keep calling 802.11b "Wi-Fi"? It sounds like a home electronics fixation. Anyway, this is increasingly less true, and many people just get the cards. Were you really out of PC card slots? GSIA students at CMU have Thinkpads with three PC card slots and built in modem, wired Ethernet, and 802.11b.
Wi-Fi=Wireless Fidelity, basically, the stamp of approval saying that the device that claims to have 802.11b compatibility actually does.
Music reviewers are a part of the RIAA's marketing. If the reviewers choose not to review "Disc A", then a certain portion of Disc A's revenue is likely to be lost. If a lot of reviewers are angry about the way they are being treated, they may choose not to review that disc, and the RIAA will lose money.
Who will lose more here? -the RIAA, for not having as much market exposure? -or Jon Doe, music reviewer, for not getting a personal copy of the music?
That's a false analogy. This isn't like suing the driver of the getaway car. This is more like suing the people who built the street that the getaway car drives on.
I do not understand why this was modded to 0. I read it, and agreed very much. Why was it modded to 0? I thought it made good sense.
The fact is, this fight is the RIAA's fight. It is not the ISP's fight. As long as the ISP is not creating or promoting anything illegal, it shouldn't be held responsible for illegal content, especially when the content is not hosted by them.
I just hope that these ISPs fight back, because the RIAA's lawyers are getting scary.
The article basically said that the scientists had four super-accurate clocks, and sent two of them at very high speed into space and then retrieved them, finding that the two which had been sent into space were behind the others.
If I shake something mechanical with moving parts, it gets messed up, so why wouldn't the same be true for clocks?
I just don't understand how the difference between the clocks can't be due to other factors, and why they would assume has to be because time is not constant. Doesn't it take a lot of energy to get something into space? Couldn't a lot of other factors mess up a clock?
Wouldn't that depend on how much money the average person in India makes per year? If they make anywhere near what the average American does, then it might be worthwhile to pay the money, but if they don't make much, then it wouldn't be such a great deal.
Most American websites are having problems paying their bills at this point. I doubt that they would be willing to pay, but I really doubt that most would be able to.
The interesting thing about the Mayan calendar is that apparently, it is even more accurate than our own. They monitored both the sun and the moon to keep time, and knew the length of a year.
If I remember correctly, the Mayas said that knowledge would build up until something happened in December 2012, and then a new age would start. They also said this had happened before.
The death of someone close to you is bound to hurt more than the death of someone you don't.

Are you asking the people who want to end the monopoly, or are you asking those who currently hold the monopoly?
Wouldn't it be more like them just leasing the store next door to a chop shop?

No, Angel had a kid with another vampire. Darla was a vampire, and everyone said that was a sign of the impending apocalypse.
That's not the Constitution. That's the Gettysburg Address. Just FYI.

So that's what happened!

While USB2 may be more common at this point, having seen USB2 devices and firewire devices in action, USB2 is not faster.

The iPod is firmware-upgradeable to support future formats, and Apple made sure to make that well-known when it was released.

The Mac OS before OS X supports dates up to the year 29940.

I honestly don't know why that was modded down. He made a pretty good point. I stepped on a broken cd and my foot got cut pretty badly.
