SCO: we hate those damned linux users stealing profits from us! those damned terrorists! please US gov't, Help us fight terrorism!
But...
SCO is a Linux user!
Too bad SCO, the fud is really getting boring now.
I cant WAIT to see the day when SCOX PLUMMETS. I will actually enjoy watching that.
this card uses the bttv driver, and the remote works with lirc.
the remote is really bad, if you ask me.
I used lirc, a serial IR reciever and another remote with applications like mythtv and tvtime just fine. the stock remote IR reciever wont work with other remotes.
I hope this is of some help to the/. crowd.
and that decision is to not buy a car made by those companies.
I dont want to die at the hands of Bill Gates.
Windows gets slow after running a few days.
I can see this happening:
I go out to the car one morning, and try to unlock the car... takes 30 seconds to unlock..
takes 30 seconds to start... 30 seconds to brake (CRASH! dead.)
Nice try Bill, But I will stick to a NON-WINDOWS car for now.
The sooner we stop paying it any attention, the sooner they will go away.
I say, ignore them, let them do battle and they will just... sod off and die.
I really get sick of hearing SCO fud.
We should just STOP listening to it!
It seems that Microsoft is attacking the system, not the kernel.
I havent really heard anything about Linux, really.
I have heard about the SSH issues, ect, but never about Linux.
SSH, OpenSSH,ect. are just parts of a Linux system, or BSD for that matter.
has there actually been a Linux KERNEL exploit in the last few years?
and besides, when there is a Linux KERNEL exploit its fixed in hours, or minutes!
I think it would be impossible for M$ to match that.
this article qualifies for more M$ Fud.
"I read that Linux has issued 25 patches so far this year, so what is to be gained by switching? "
Linux? as in the kernel?
I really think that the general public needs an education.
it would make more sense if one said 'X issued 25 patches this year' instead of Linux.
X being the name of the distro.
does it ever end? *grin*
'windows' mentioned in article.

"...simply reach out and touch an on/off button to turn off Windows in lieu of going through a ritualized shut-down procedure."
who says we will be running windows by then?
I hope not....
I get sun workstations on ebay, the price is right and I enjoy using these boxes.
One can download solaris for free from sun, as well as patches, drivers, ect.
This may be bad news, they might decide to ditch the free download eventually. that would really.. suck.
I would not buy a cisco product. get a wan card and a linux box. your probably better off.
just my $0.02
I personally, have taken a cheap, no name power supply and changed all the caps in it. result: much better power supply.
I always crack open power supplies to see what brand caps they use, because I know from experience that its caps failing in power supplies that kill them.....
and your computer.
I have seen a brand new brand name power supply use the WORST caps.
so, you can compare these brand name supplies all day, but there might be a cheap one thats more stable, if not better made.
shop around, you might be suprised.
"SCO maintains that IBM has offered code from AIX, which included SCO's intellectual property, to the Linux open-source community to build Linux into an enterprise OS, and effectively killed SCO's Unix market for Intel."
this is from: http://sco.com/scosource/gartner_warning.html
since when did SCO have market share for an outdated operating system?
I personally have never seen this operating system around.
SCO is blowing smoke up everyones ass. I wouldnt pay attention to any of this fud.
this smells microsoft. it really does.
this is just another tactic for them to extort money out of companies.
I am an end user, and I will continue to use it.
I seriously doubt that there is any code of theirs in Linux.
I see the death of SCO coming, they will need more cash than they are generating to pay back all the companies they are extoring now.
well, its on the fuckedcompany website
and their link is to economic times times
seems like netscape has been losing the war for a long time. and i think it continues.
its a shame, i like netscape.
someone needs to stop the RIAA from becoming
a micro$oft.
besides, they put out crap anyhow, what happened to being original and innovative?
seems like these days the new thing is to suppress innovation, or anything new. unless you control the purse strings, of course.
maybee an employee sold them to a spammer.
I have always wondered about inside jobs of this sort.
im sure it wouldnt be hard these days with the compact
USB hard disks you can put on your keys.
simply plug it in, transfer all the email addresses, zip it up
and send it to your favorite spammer, then collect.
sound easy? yeah... its scary.
I think they see supporting Linux as a good thing.
I have found their driver for the Geforce cards to be stable, I have never had a problem personally.
while I dont own an nForce2 board, I am happy that they released this driver. its another step in the right direction in my opinion.
They cant release the code to the Geforce driver because the code they utilise isnt their code, but I wonder: will they try to get around that?
There has to be a way around that issue. I forsee Nvidia releasing an open source driver one day.
to Nvidia: Thanks for giving me many years of stable gaming in Linux
Correct me if im wrong here...
M$ and Aberdeen are in bed....
SCO shows Aberdeen evidence...
its in the best interests of all 3 parties that linux be gone. SCO can extort money from everyone, and that will make M$ software look good.
M$ gets wish, to scare companies away from linux and OSS
Coincidence? maybee.
we REALLY need to find that code. if it exists, it can be very damaging
I seriously considered an ATI card knowing that Nvidia was cheating.
Now that I know they are both cheating, I will stick with my geforce 4 a little while longer.
Stop cheating, Both of you!
less time cheating, means more work innovating!
thats an interesting one....
if it happens when its warm it could be an electrical issue.. cold soder joints, ect.
most of the time when i see color problems it turns out to be a lens that has been burned.
but, it it just 'happens' like say, 10 minutes into operation i would say it was an electrical problem.
if its a constant purple its a lens or prism, or even a mirror thats doing it.
these units have polarised lenses in them that like to burn, for some reason.
usually that shows as a blotch or spot in the image, tho.
usually if the lamp is the issue it will flicker, or have exploded.
what your describing seems like it would be a ballast, possibly a thermal fuse or protector could also be bad.
some projectors wont start up unless you reset the lamp timer.
unfortunately, im not familiar with that particular unit.

this needs to be modded up.
I agree with this posting, fully. mod ME a troll, but not the author of this post.
