Slashdot subscriptions will essentially let you buy a thousand pages to be viewed without banner ads.

Come on ... this is rather silly, i wouldn't pay for banner-free pages.

Why does Slashdot do this? Does Taco need more money for the fourthcoming wedding oder does OSDN want more money?

You can get 750-900 kb/sec with your 10mBit router, i think this is fast enough to download all the stuff you want. Unless you want to install a server farm behing the router, a 100mBit router is really to expensive for private use...

If you want a 100mBit wan-router, you sghoul consider the cisco 17xx series, i think that should be whats you're looking for ... i've no idea what this costs, but i'm sure its a fine sum.

Perhaps you could use an old pc with 2x100mBit cards and Linux/*BSD as a router, that would be a more cheap solution, besides you could host stuff on it!

    Here's what the article says:

In our case, since we ran with dual Xeon processors (each with hyperthreading capabilities), the OS and software see this as four physical CPUs, even though there are only two physical CPUs running. As you can see by the device and task managers in Windows XP, the OS sees our system with four physical CPU's. Eeven though Windows 2000 and Windows XP only officially support two CPU's, both operating systems were able to run properly with the Hyperthreaded CPU's. This means you don't have to upgrade to a 4-processor OS like Windows 2000 server to take advantage of this technology.
