But when I saw Super Mario 3 on NES, I thought "Wow! What a great improvement on the original SMB!"
When I saw SMB4 (Super Mario World on SNES) I thought "Wow! This is like Mario 3... supercharged!"
But the first time I saw Super Mario 64, it simpl BLEW me away. Total 3-d environment. it was not "the next step" in the mario games. it was an entirely new experience.
SM64 is a game that both singlehandidly defined the 3-d platform genre AND got it perfect the first time around!
Zelda: Ocarina of Time is probably the most flawless game ever created.
I have a theory. When motion pictures first came out, they were dismissed as gimicky and for entertainment only. Only years later did they become recognized as a legitimate ART form.
I truly believe that this will one day happen to videogames, like movies. Most will still be just entertainment (which, like many movies, is perfectly fine), but some, like Zelda, with it's mixture of gorgeous visuals, enchanting music, wonderful storyline, fantastic gameplay and engulfing characters will one day get the recognition it deserves as a work of Art.
Also, Don't forget the king... Staples.. they are awesome !!!
I TOTALLY agree! They send checks like 1-2 WEEKS later! I don't usually advertise many companies, but I wanna spread word on anyone who is honest and makes the customer satisfied!
I participated in that!!! I TOTALLY forgot about that lab! I got paid $10 one day to do a series of psychological tests in that secret-but-not-secret NASA lab underneath brandeis! Thanks for the memory jolt!
X-wing vs. Tie Fighter, Myst, Snood, Doom, Half-Life... Every one of those games are from the 90's (Didn't Myst come out like 10 years ago on the Mac?)
There's even the trademark evacuation before the whole place blows to hell... Though where it occurs in Prime kind of breaks with tradition.
Not exactly. True, in the original NES metroid, this "countdown" was at the end of the game, but in Super Metroid (Metroid 3) on the SNES, the countdown was right at the beginning of the game, aboard a self-destructing space station... very similar to Metroid Prime. So, basically, half the metroid games have the countdown right at the beginning of the game:-)

Why on Earth didn't we just get it over with 12 years ago?
Nah, it's no use lorenlal. Anti-War people love saying "It's about Oil!" but they can never sufficiently answer why we didn't conquer all the Iraqui oil fields in '91 (and to say "Oh we just wanted Kuwaiti oil" or something just is an excuse - if it was about oil, we woulda taken over iraq. period). But it wasn't. Anti-Americans ALWAYS think there's an evil "true" reason for everything we do.
Mind you, the Iranians have talked of (US-backed) Saddam's horrors for a couple decades, and the (US-backed) Shah's horrors for a few decades before that. Who's been quick to admit that they were right all along?
So wait... I'd have to admit WHO was "right all along?" The US? Huh? Additionally, these seem to be blanket accusations, with zero proof or citations (and no, I'd need a NYTimes or CNN or another US site-link, not a "Freedom Magazine" or some random site.)
Not just a math mistake, it nullifies your argument. An "extra" 24 hrs in a week = more than 3 and a half more hours a day you can spend with your family.
And since when is 55 hrs/week so horrible? 8am-6:30pm, M-F is 53 hours right there. A lot of people have jobs like that, where they eat a sandwich at the desk, etc. Not for everyone, but it's certainly doable.
If you can get past the stigma of working for the Dark Side
This "Stigma" you speak of is only within the "geek" community. You tell everyone at your high school reunion "I'm a vice president at Microsoft" you'll be the envy of everyone. The 5 kids from the computer club might shun you, but no one else will.:-)
good point - none have been discovered. So I ammend it by saying that if dozens+ of Pluto-sized planets are discovered, that we don't count them as planets with the exception of Pluto (as per my idea above).

Will someone PLEASE troll down this asshole? You are so pathetically addicted to anti-americanism it's lead you to actually state that America wants to control Pluto's name because it was discovered by an American! Shut up. I have karma to burn, I don't care. Mod me down, but take that fucker down with me. Shut up and read why France and Russian are REALLY anti-war. Oh yeah, the French "Take our Jews Mr. Hitler and do as you please to them" are really the beacon of human rights.
If we did that, then America would be accused of trying to be imperialistic, trying to run the cosmos, make-the-rules-for-everybody, or some crap like that:-)
That is the funniest shit I've read in months!
Greetings sir! Please send $1 to Happy Dude!

Somolia - To conquer Africa!
Yugoslavia - To conquer E europe!
Afganistan - to conquer Asia!
I like how New York lost 100,000 people in the time it took to copy both lists :-)
this little dispute with Saddam, the fear he's got and plans to use more chemical weapons?
Yup. That's it.
you, sir, truly are an anonymous idiot...

Um... as an Arabic word, it has no "correct" latin-based spelling. Both are acceptable.

e are a few moons larger than Pluto... would they become planets
No, because the parent's definition clearly states objects orbiting planets are not planets themselves - they must only orbit a star.
someone bothered to name a Roman god after
not to mention a Disney character
