My Palm pilot has the same piece of music as a sound for the alarm clock, (the flight of the bumblebee) and plays it just as crappily.
But at this stage I think that was not really important yet, they'll get to the 'once more, with feeling' stage later.
I've blown on saxophones and clarinets just to try and make some noise. To have a machine getting this far is actually quite an accomplishment I think.
Now they just need to work on timing & emphasis....
" It would be great to see this applied to historical events and other game domains, too -- like trying to beat Amundsen to the South Pole, using best-known weather data. "
I want to be Rensenbrink in the 1978 World Cup final.....
>Get back to me when the government puts a decent size fraction of what they spend on the military
Well, the government decides where it goes but it was your money before you payed tax.
And you (well, in theory at least) get to decide who gets to be "the government", so.....
Hey thanks! that was a very clear reply. I think actually get it now....
So we need to find life in the universe to see if it has left- or righthanded amino acids.
If it has lefthanded it could be coincidence, if its righthanded it means that the slight preference for lefthandedness wasnt big enough in that case;).
Sjees, first they tell me God is a woman, and now a lefthanded one as well...
ahm. Its been very long since I studied this. Too long perhaps.
I thought (nearly) all biological synthesis results in stereospecific molecules.....
Cant seem to find any reference at the moment, sorry
Anyone care to eleborate perhaps ?
Ha ha, exactly my experience but with a pocket PC.
It's sooooo nice to have to use two hands and a stylus to make phone call, especialy while riding a bike.
Then if you actually press the thing to your ears (for blocking traffic noise etc.) you'll push one of the touchscreen buttons with your cheekbone and disconnect the call...Now that's what I call a good thorough design. Way to Go HTC !
YEah, I guess so:)
I once read that the reason that you can hear all instruments seperately so clearly on those old Motown records is that they creatively used parametric EQ.
Making a 'dip' in the bass and a corresponding 'bump' in the bassdrum allowing you to clearly distinguish between the two.
Not sure if that's true, just what I read. Still sounds good to me though, and a ' permissable' way of beefing things up....
Stadium Arcadium was produced by Rick Rubin.
What you describe is actually his ' style' I guess:).
He's been doing it for a while too :

But yeah, it's disturbing to hear how good some old Motown sh*t sounded with the limited equipment they had, and now, with all our superduper digital systems, things just sound thin, dull, compressed and tiring. Most of the time they just put in too much stuff , I mean how many gated reverbs and exciters can you handle ?
Finally. The whole net is clogged with those things.
They all copy each other and some seem to be so popular that they register as top hits on Google when I search for something.
I find it very irritating to find blog posts by some unemployed twat with too much time on his hands seem to matter more to Google (or other engines) than for instance the official company website for a certain product do.
So in stead of finding tech spec for something I find rants on it sucks because they dont make it in pink, sign a petition here
I say hurray to Italy.
Yup. Sleep, not boot. Macs do this flawlessly (push powerbutton, sleeps alomst instantly, push again and it comes back in +/- 1 second).
XP takes a bit longer though, not sure why....
Vueling (spanish low cost airline) sells the emergency seats for extra euro's.
Usually it's the seats one row in front of the Emergency Exits that don't recline, I think.
I'm not tall, and I can do without the legroom, my priority is to sit in the front of the airplane.
I want to get off as quickly as possible & catch my connecting bus....
And the trolley with sandwiches & drinks arrives earlier too:)
Cows move about. They get their energy to do so by eating grass.
So indirectly, cows are solar-powered, aren't they ?
