  1. Maybe I'm missing something on The PC, Xbox, PS2, GameCube and 2600, Together at Last · · Score: 1

Why put in an Atari 2600? I don't recall any compelling games on that console. I mean come on nostalgia isn't that important. I'd rather invest the space with a Dreamcast or something at least NES age and up. If you really want 2600 there are the emulators. The games are tiny (200k) so it isn't going to take significant HD space.

  4. Re:The Economy Crude Oil on NASA Reports Vast Hydrogen Reserves in Earth's Crust · · Score: 1

Is nuclear really all that expensive or is it the stigma of Chernobyl vs. the collective exhaust fumes of all oil based engines. People "think" nuclear is horrible and bad and it will make you glow in the dark and all nuclear power plants are going to share Chernobyl's fate. People have an easier time dealing with chronic respiratory problems from smog and other fun stuff from exhaust. Think about the controversy about storing spent fuel rods from power plants. We have a few locations that are saying sure we'll take it (like an Indian reservation in Utah) but nobody wants the stuff to cross their property for a couple hours to get it there (like the state of Utah). There is a perception of disaster thinking about nuclear (even though it is mostly clean and very cheap) but we stick with combustion engines to run everything.

  5. Re:How vast is vast? on NASA Reports Vast Hydrogen Reserves in Earth's Crust · · Score: 1

The only thing with the "problem" of future hydrogen supplies is that the exhaust of a hydrogren fuelled vehicle would be...water. The main reason this resembles anything close to a problem is the cost (in energy and therefore efficiency) of liberating the hydrogen from the water.

I'm afraid that just by posting in this discussion will get me modded but here goes nothing (no pun intended). Since the Dreamcast is dead and the vultures have started to pick it apart, when will the other consoles adopt its finer qualities? I love my Dreamcast (that I bought to run linux among other things) and I wish that the console had a bit longer life before it was declared dead. I guess I should have known that Sega would have given it a half-hearted effort from my experience with the genesis and its tech superiority for a good year. I guess I should stop droning aimlessly, but does anyone know where I can get some sort of software that allows me to burn VMU games to cd and then load from the cd to the vmu?

It'd be nice to have that kind of green to throw around stupidly.

AFAIK we understand this 'technology', in basic form at least. Because our understanding is basic, and also that we probably aren't seeing the whole picture of genetic sequencing and associated protein synthesis, it seems like a cowboy territory. We know a lot about what's going on in molecular biology and genetics, but there is so much that we don't know and that we just plain can't observe. I'd go on but I couldn't stay awake during my molecular biology classes when I was taking them.
