I would like yo know when and if you are still in the playtest because Maxis has already pushed back the release date several times and is still adding features to the game. It is much more than a glorified chatroom and it is somewhat realistic in the simulation of day to day human interactions. To say its a glorified chatroom is absolutely absurd.

I have been in the play test for about a week and a half and there has been a lot of features, changes, etc that have taken place to the game itself. To simply nock the game when its still very much in a beta stage is totally unfair towards Maxis and EA.

Well, I'm sorry but I have SuSE 7.2 Professional and was able to get my DSL working in less than a minute. Perhaps it is because:

    1) Qworst requires PPPoE which it does if you directly order DSL from them and not an ISP.
    2) You have a static ip but have no idea what you are doing.

Either way you shouldn't knock the operating system if you don't know how to use it. Most ISP's nowadays are starting to support linux as an OS anyways. So instead of trying to 'hack it' to work, then maybe you should break down and call tech support. SuSE does support PPPoE so if that is the case you should install that package.

Yeah, I completely agree. PacBell/SBC has no motivation to provide these services because of their deep pockets, and their unwillingness to innovate. You don't have to innovate when you are a monopoly because everyone has to be forced to deal with their crappy service. However, eventually that will be there undoing because you will see WISPs popping up all over the place offering affordable broadband and VoIP options with much better support.

I've been disheartened by the linux world since commercial interests started stepping in. Avoiding such crap was my #1 reason for dropping windows in the first place.

That is the most ridiculous statement ever! First of RedHat has done numerous things to help the kernel developers, as a result they benefit from it as well as the users. The same could stand for United Linux. Besides if you are so digusted with the commercialization of software, shouldn't you feel the same way about the hardware? Maybe you should stop using computers then if it disgusts you so much.

I obviously don't get some of you people. We live in a democratic society in which commercialism is the sole driving force of the economy. If you don't like it then deal with it and don't whine

I don't think we are running before we are crawling, we need to begin this sort of planning to prove what technologies are viable and which ones need to be further developed. I agree that there needs to be more of a focus on the moon, but abandoning the red planet is not an option. It has far more resources than the moon does and it has the ability to be teraformed so we could live on it with out specialized life support systems, biospheres, etc.
