Free plans for self-replicating robots?!?! I definitely know a few people who I would not trust with their own robot army and I don't think I want to make it any easier for them to get one!
I was thinking about how I could maybe use these printers to make a bacteria t-shirt transfer but I ultimately decided to just sneeze on my shirt instead.
Isn't it obvious that the best technology is blade servers? I mean, c'mon fucking BLADE servers! It's far and away got the coolest name of any of them. The only way you could beat them would be if some company came out with something cooler like ninja star servers, now that would be awesome.
I was excited when I heard a while ago about a new BSD variant because there are areas where BSD isn't specifically tuned to. However, Dragonfly BSD doesn't seem to address any particular deficit of the other BSDs. Every other BSD split has had a mission, OpenBSD to concentrate on security and NetBSD to concentrate on remaining cross-platform portability. What exactly is the reason for Dragonfly BSD?
The site was slow when it was first linked to on slashdot (I could not connect the first time I tried), so why the hell is it so surprising that it's going down during the peak of the election when even more people will be viewing it and viewing it repeatedly? This isn't an "attack", just a lot of people using up a lot of bandwidth.
You're missing the point, they're apparently trying to use this format to push "non-gaming" content as well which one would assume would primarily include things such as movies.
Non-gaming content for the proprietary 1.8GB "Universal Media Disc" (UMD) used by the PSP will go on sale from Spring 2005.
Ah! Another proprietary media format from Sony that will not catch on. I guess they wanted to give Betamax, minidisk and memory stick, etc. some company.
Speaking of best-guesses, I recall a problem I had in Debian once that resulted in an error message something to the effect of "XYZ not found. Trying to wing it..."
The files in question are the files the FBI kept on Lennon while he was alive. He was watched by the FBI because of his antiwar stance and he was not a U.S. citizen. There is no controversy about his death.
a U.S. District Judge rejected the governments arguements to keep the secret records of John Lennon sealed.
Well, I for one, am looking forward to hearing a new John Lennon album because honestly, Imagine and the Wedding Album are getting a little stale. Still though, I understand the FBI wanting to keep it sealed, I mean, imagine the resale value of something like that, it has to be like 5 times a butcher cover of Yesterday and Today.
When you go to a casino, 4 out 5 people at a table are regulars, and the pretty much just sand bag until mister, 'I know the odds' shows up, then the fleece him.
This is true, but my point was that at least in a real casino you have a chance of being able to spot the fools, whereas online you don't really.
But yeah, what you're saying about people knowing the odds is exactly right and also kind of what I was getting at: among people who are experienced at playing poker, knowing the odds really means nothing and if you play very tight to the odds you're going to get taken.
Really, this won't make a difference. All this thing does is play by the odds. While that works well against unexperienced players, most people who play a lot of poker know how to figure the odds as well (it's not hard) and what makes the game interesting is how loose or tight they play to those odds. So if you're lucky enough to get at a table of suckers in an online casino this would be useful, but really, most online casinos, unlike real casinos, are populated by gambling addicts (most of whom know the odds, if not by numbers than by instinct) or increasingly by people who read articles about calculating the odds and think that they're going to make a killing against all the other suckers.
Really, if you want to make some money at poker you'd be better off learning to do the odds in your head and going to a real casino to find a table of marks. Or, alternatively, fleece your friends (or your friends' friends) during friendly games of poker, if you don't have any moral objections to that.
I think nintendo should make a cartridge with emulations of a couple of those old multi screen game 'n' watch games they had. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's an example. You can see others on Gameandwatch.com, just click on "multiscreen" on the menu.
Hell, if they don't do it, I might just have to waste my time programming it myself once somebody gets together a free dev-kit for the DS.
Math in space you say? What will they think of next?!
This is only a marginal improvement, I can already change "XP Home" to "XP Pro Lite" by changing only 4 bytes and adding 4 more to the end.

Way to miss the joke.

Nobody is allergic to cat hair, they're allergic to the cat's "dander", that is, the residue of their saliva which is often attached to the hair.

World's Deepest cave explored? Goat sacrifice? Sounds like a Goatse man joke waiting to happen.
Why would they do this you ask? Well... all the cool companies are doing it, right?
I'm waiting for Sun Microsystem's music download service myself.
