Duke Nukem' Forever finally makes it?

Bad joke aside, UT2k3 and UT II just came out fairly recently, and there are still people creating maps, mutators, etc. for them. Hopefully this won't steal too much thunder from the UT2k3 and UT II camps, since there's still lots of good gameplay left there.

P.S. Slashcode continues to be broken. Either fix the headers for games on the frontpage, or, apply the color schemes to all the other headlines. In fact, that might be kind of cool. BSD headlines in red, Apple in the Aqua theme, etc.

I can't vouch for Open Office. So yes, your old P90 is still useful and you don't need to go buy an expenxive new computer just to buy eXPensive new software. Microsoft's technology gaps are based on obsolete software production and marketing models that they can not reconcile.

That's the point. You aren't running OO.o on your P90, you're running it on a 400MHz AMD. Try installing it on a P90 locally and see how slowly it runs.

This sounds like a great way to encourage people to move away from MSIE. Show them nicely renderd alpha transparent PNG files in Mozilla, and comparable files in MSIE and let them see that IE is in fact, crippled.

If you assume that the low-cost cinemas will increase the number of cinemas paying money to the movie studios, then they win.

Because, this affects the movie studios and their pissing contests as to who had the largest weekend opening. They don't brag about "50 million people saw our movie!" They brag about "$200 million on opening weekend"

If they had to track tickets sold, you could see from context that the movie was good/bad/whatever. Example: If you assume that tickets cost $10/ea (in whatever currency you want), and the movie opened to $15 million for the weekend, you can assume that 1.5 million people went to see the movie. In a country of 100 million people, that sucks.

By being able to brag about money, they don't have to acknowledge that fewer people actually see the movies.

It doesn't matter that every possible sports title is available on PS2 if I'm not interested in playing sports games.

And the customer can then verify that he is getting the correct amount of change back without doing extra work. This is the entire point of a reciept in the first place, and the reason they train cashiers to use the greedy algorithm.

Provided the key punching cashier monkey actually presses the right keys, yes this is true. But, how many times have you gone into a store, handed the cashier a $20 bill for example, and had them key in 2.00 <enter>, then get this confused look like "How do I get to $20 now?"

It's probably a good idea for someone who handles cash to be able to count change without having a register tell them what it is. I've also been in a store when the power acted up, and the cashiers were powerless (no pun intended) to help anyone until the registers came up, not because they couldn't write sales reciepts, but because they couldn't count change.

It's a bit of both. Because you are sharing up/down bandwidth with other users, you may find that you can d/l from 5 people each @ 200Kbps, for a d/l of 1Mbps, which may be more than the one mirror can handle. Also, since the downloads come from peers, it does reduce the bandwidth necessary for the mirror to provide.
