I just dont want to pay .99 for a group I've never heard. Seems like I could end up with a lot of banjo-punk-rock that way.

  2. Lets see now.... on Audio Lunchbox: Music with no DRM · · Score: 0, Flamebait

So a slow web service that charges full price for low bit rate Mp3 files of artists I've never heard of? I tried searching for a few songs and groups and got nothing. I'm all for alternitive groups getting a place to sell music, but I dont think they should be charging as much.

Who gets to set the standards? There are several groups, each of which think that their system is the best. Why should all but one group be excluded? Why not just let the market decide what the 'standard' is?

No, it just has to offer better value. For me my USB pen MP3 player is an iPod killer since it offers more of what I want for a better price. I dont WANT to carry around more music then I can listen to. I also dont want a player with moving parts.

Apple sets the selling price. Thats why every place that sells apples stuff does so at the same price. They can give you bonus deals, but the base price is fixed or you lose your apple reseller license. This is also what put all the third party apple stores out of business since they where forbiden from selling for less then the apple owned stores. Because of this, most apple products are purchased direct from apple and those that are not have their prices set by apple.
