"Well if you had stopped to read the article blurb, you would have read that it is intended for triple-play providers (telephone, internet and multimedia/video). Thank you for your knee-jerk over-generalized comment though!"
Um, are you trying to claim that network latency has no effect on those things?
Modern games still dont run at optimal frame rates at 1280x1024 with max graphics settings. Most recent of these is Neverwinter Nights 2, I get around 20fps which is enough, but I wouldn't mind it being a bit smoother.
"Yeah. And how about the janitors? Maintenance people? Trucking people? Accounting people? Shipping people? People in manufacturing? IT is just one part of a massive support staff that it takes to run any business."
All of those produce tangible results. The goal of a lot of IT work, security especially, is to produce nothing.
The general problem with IT work is that if you do your job realy well, nothing happens. So you then have to deal with questions like "why did we spend all that money on y2k when nothing happened".
Its almost worth messing up from time to time just to show what would happen every day if you weren't there.
The real good news is that the web gets around all those pesky laws stopping you from telling lies about the political subjects or canidates you dont like.
In fact, there's nothing stopping me from saying things like Mesure A (a public transit initiative where I am) will kill babies, and all who support it will feast on the baby meat!
I relay like this idea, so long as it can be turned off. Based on my experiance with Opera so far I'd say that not only will it be able to be turned off, but that you can disable it on a server by server baises.
There's a reason I was willing to pay for Opera when it was still a commercial product. Now if only they would make a Symbian native version, the Java version has a hard time in landscape mode on my Nokia N93.
True enough, I recall one case where a parent sued the school because his larva didn't win MVP on the school sports team. Makes one wish there was a written test to be a parrent, rather then just the physical one.
Not realy, I couldn't get through more then a page of that marketing/manager speak. I didn't see the word "synergy" but you know they where having to choke back saying it.

"What was wrong with gigabit ethernet?"
It requires CAT-6e certified twisted pair cables and wont run over existing house wiring.
In my experience with such networks, its not the transfer speed but the response time that makes you want to chew your keyboard.
7800gtx and dual AMD Opterons.

Most of em have NiN, Tool or Warhammer t-shirts on. Just have a S.W.A.T team take out the mall food courts and we can get em all.

I allways hear the NSA refered to as the Agency.
No, its more like then make 200,000 of which only 100,000 meet Ciscos qualty standards. The ones Cisco rejects get sold to a knock off company.
Going legit would require them to develope their own firmware and drivers rather then just making copies of Ciscos.
Um. I did the same thing, switched to an intel mac mini. itunes let me redownload the songs I'd paid for without any questions.
The dont have a native version yet for Sumbian series 60 v3 yet, just s60 v2. There's some major changes in that minor revision number.

I was going to write up a witty retort to all of this, but I think its far simpler just to call these people fucking idiots and get back to work.
You cant educate people that think the erth is 6,000 years old. All you can do is yell at them.
"You'll be surprised at some of the answers"

Why does this remind me of the group trying to geneticly alter pigs so bacon isn't bad for us anymore?
Guess I'd better get started testing it for compatibility with my web application.
sucking all the moisture out of the environment will have no impact on the eco system, right?
Its the NGA thats watching you pick your nose in your backyard.
Some white-bread fed kid will chop off a finger and the parents will sue Sega.
What if your not using powerpoint? How about that the user could have just disabled the warnings if they where such a big deal.
Um, it is configurable. You can turn off all the warnings in question through an easy to use wizzard.
