Oracle runs just fine on RedHat. We have thousands of RedHat boxes running Oracle for hundreds of customers at my site alone for at least the last 3 years. Multi-tier, RAC, etc.
I agree. The web was not disigned for applications, and technologies that try to use it for such are kludges. The web should be for hypertext documents, and we need a new separate technology for internet apps. For this reason I started the NewI\O project (http://www.newio.org./

Why not?
My preference would be to repeal the 16th Amendment and replace it with nothing.
Short of that this is the next best thing:

> Open source is a developer model; A business model it is not!
True. Open source does not have enough information to be a business model, but open source can be a part of a business model. It can me part of a business strategy. Sun Microsystems, for example, is heavily adopting an open source strategy, even to the extent that they are open sourcing thier OS, and CPUs.
So when you see open source business model, think business model that includes an open source strategy. Most models then include some sort of addendum to make money, such as sell support, or to marginalize a competitor's strategic product, like thier cash cow.
> The basic issue is simple - HTTP isn't a client - server protocol.
And thus the solution is obvious: make a protocol designed to run applications on the internet.
I would love to but a book on about writing
portable RPC code, and also using RPC with
multiple operating systems. Also using ONC
RPC in the Win32 platform, and using RPC in
a windowing graphics environment.
Thanks,
Max

You were told wrong. It runs fine on 128MB. You
do need to turn off the fancy graphics, but even
so the graphics are better than they were, which
is plenty good enough.
In fact I know someone who is playing succesfully
post expansion with only 64MB.

If you are going to take the time to write a

sure?
The new zones are not slow and work fine. They
are very interesting and different. I recommend
that you make yourself a Kitty!
There were problems with the patch, but the latest
patch fixes most of them. The upgrade was
significant so it is not surprising that there
were problems, but it looks like everything is
going to be ok.
I predicted this 15 years ago.

I am an RHCE working for Oracle. We do not have any problem supporting RedHat internally. Larry is talking about support for Oracle customers.

I agree. Since it did not seem to exist, I started the NewI\O project (http://www.newio.org./

Maybe so. How about using C to write internet apps, and ditch the web?

No, someone does not have to pay for all the stuff government does. The other option is we can not pay for it and have government not do it.

How do they know what is on her computer? Did they raid her house for a civil suit, or do they have some sort of remote monitoring software?
Why not just ask what thier policy was if they were unable to solve your problem?

This is good news! I have long wanted to "encapsulate the details of middleware service invocations".

Umm...do you know how complex the simplest bacteria is? Well lets just say it is way beyond our own technology.

Umm...no. Combatants target military targets. Terrorists target civilians.
Thanks for participating, though.
Uhura in her underwear?!? Now I am going to have to rent it!
What about EverQuest? It is the only reason I keep a copy of Windows...
If it could only run EQ...

If it only ran EverQuest...
