So you think it's potato chips, fast food, movies and music that's pissing people in the middle east off? Or do you think that maybe the sponsoring of these corrupt powers is perhaps the source of people's anger?
This cheap, general speculation gets this kind of score? Good Work/.ers.
Who speaks for the "Islamic cultures" you're talking about? What sort of "change" should "they" adapt to? What culture is in decline? Islam is a pretty big religion (1 billion followers) that encompasses many countries, nationalites, cultures. "Open examination" sounds like western criticism. I refuse to believe that you can have such a simple view of large group of people, but maybe that's the root of the problem...
The US will be in Afghanistan for a long time to come. I believe this because of a few reasons:
there's un-tapped oil in the Caspian Basin that could be routed through the country.
it's strategic: the US needs a base of operations in central Asia. China, Iran and Pakistan are all there and few *stans to the north that were formerly part of U.S.S.R.
150K is small by my standards, rural - maybe that wasn't the right word. you mentioned some facts and they're facts. but did he make the news? you're speculating that there was enough media coverage to give him an "even" chance of being known by airport security and i say that you would have to first prove that there was mainstream media coverage, etc. i think i was implying was that his unique situation would be considered a little stranger in a smaller city which is completely reasonable...that's all.
Toronto and St. John's are two very different places. Toronto being the largest city in Canada and St. John's is more of a small town. He has a documentary made about him that was heavily advertised in T.O. Other parts of the country don't have a clue about him (sometimes i wish i didn't have a clue either - the documentary kept my attention for about 30 seconds)
Without a fully functional system, he said, he found it difficult to navigate normally. He said he fell at least twice in the airport, once passing out after hitting his head on what he described as a pile of fire extinguishers in his way. He boarded the plane in a wheelchair.
am i the only one who thinks this is funny? malfunctioning cyborg tripping through a rural airport. i hope that's in the next documentary.
Since losing the use of his vision system and computer memory several weeks ago, he said, he cannot concentrate and is behaving differently. He is now undergoing tests to determine whether his brain has been affected by the sudden detachment from the technology.
...my advice in these troubled times is to continue having Ma and Pa keep footing the bill for education and get a Master's degree
that's terrible advice! it's important to learn how to manage and make money in "bad" times as much as in "good" times. even for recent grads.
open source projects won't bring in money, but getting involved could facilitate career goals.
...Anakin's flitting slave-owner is supposed to be vaguely eastern European / Jewish...
i thought him and a lot of the other characters on the planet (the speedracers etc.) had spanish-like accents...
maybe the next (episode 3) movie will have bad guys with arabic-like accents...
Ok, how's this: the statements made by the original post are racist. get it now?
Who are you talking about? Suicide bombers? Please be specific. You are making general comments that I've already heard in the media.

i'm not making fun of him, i'm making fun of his situation.

maybe the strip search really got to him...
sorry, you lost me......
i think we've read the same book...

I called the number and the person on the other end told me that it's used by companies to target current customers, not new customers.
