OK, hasn't anyone seen the Terminator series? With pretator drones already in existence it is only a matter of time before the machines take over and man will become a hunted animal, hiding from swarms of robot drones circling overhead.

And isn't anyone suspicious of Arnold Schawartzenegger's race for governor. Wait until he is elected and peels off his humanoid skin to reaval that he is leader of the first wave of machines poised to enslave mankind.

  3. Who is behind the FUD? on Oracle's Infrastructure Now Fully Linux-ized · · Score: 1
As the battle heats up it becomes more and more obvious that SCO doesn't have a leg to stand on. Their moves are becoming more and more irrational. So what is their motive? They obviously can't win the law suits or make any money off their ridiculous licensing claims. Their motive must be to discredit Linux and the GPL. Now who would stand to benefit from this? Microsoft. There must be a direct link and collusion between Microsoft and SCO. What is needed is either a public or government investigation of this link and its misuse of the court system. While Bill Gates will probably escape any prosecution (again) the real power behind the FUD being spread by SCO needs to be revealed in the court of public opinion.

    OK off my soap box.

  11. Unleashed on Mastering Mac OS X (2nd Ed.) · · Score: 4, Interesting

One of the better books on OS X that I've found is "Mac OS X Unleashed" by John Ray and William C. Ray. It covers the new GUI based features and apps in OSX such as iPhoto and iTune, but the best part is that over half the book is dedicated to using the terminal. It covers the quirks in OS X/Darwin compared to other UNIX-like systems. Best used as a reference manual, but if you want to read all 1500 pages you are welcome to it.

  13. Computers are not Video Recorders on Microsoft At Middle Age · · Score: 1

Video Recorders are made to to one thing. Computer do many different things. What we are seeing here in the computer market is the realization that one OS does'NT fit all. Graphic Designers prefer Macs. Linux is making an impact in the server market. Macs are great as small servers and for music . . .

There will always be room for OS's that only have a 5% or 3% share. The question is can a computer manufacturer survive with only a small share of the market. So far Mac has been able to do so.

  16. Rip, Mix, Burn on Recording Industry Extinction Predicted RSN · · Score: 1

As a new owner of an iMac with iTunes I think that being able to transfer CD music to my hard drive encourages me to buy CD's. Once they are in iTunes i can create my own playlists or let random shuffle pick the songs for me. I have been dissapointed with the quality of MP3's and prefer CD's, but I have to buy them to get the music I want.

The music industry has been trying to pre-program the minds of listeners for years. They need to return to the 60's type of music promotion where everyone was looking for the "new sound" instead of using MTV belly buttons to sell over produced krp.

  20. Tax Spam on Jupiter Forecasts 50% Increase In Spam · · Score: 1

OK, so according to some previous articles posted on slashdot, spammers send out 5 million e-mails for a single promotion. Tax them .1 cents per e-mail and it costs them $5000 dollars. This would seriously cut into their profits since they only expect a few percents of the e-mails to be responded to. The average user would only pay a few cents a month.

Some seemed to skip along the atmosphere, fading in and out. There were several doubles and triples going off in different directions. Full moon, but it was low in the sky by 5 a.m. and didn't seem to cause too much back glow. Can't wait for the next big one 100 years from now.
