    Powerful computers that cost $15-$20K were less vastly less powerful than the cellphones we had today. The issue was mass production of hardware, not software.

    I'm not a big fan of the walled garden, but the hardware in it will find its way to us geeks for a minor markup, if any. See the Rasberry Pi.

    Now of course it will be compared to the iPad, but what's this obsession that if you're not the market leader, you're not worth buying? If that were the case there'd be no market for Android phones, or even WM7 phones.

    Actually, looking at phones, Android is the market leader.

  11. On the day that happens, such that I can no longer sell my used discs to other people, I will stop buying any games priced higher then $10.

    That may be true for you (and good for you for acting on your feelings).

    But Steam sells games for more than that all the time and there is neither physical media nor the ability to resell.

    I'm not "defending" Obama for this move - if anything it was lowballed. He should have given them a couple of billion to match the sort of ballpark figures given to the oil industry,

    Comparing one company vs an entire industry is somewhat disingenuous.

    And regardless of that, the US is simply broke, and doesn't have the money to be spending on either, or a host of other things.

    I have a six year old and a four year old. No way I was getting them a $500 or even $300 device. At $199 the Kindle Fire was perfect. And it is the first thing the eldest asks for on waking and returning home from school...

    Consoles should either be doing that by default, or, at the very least, offering it as an option. The fact that they're forcing that hassle onto the users is turning users away. Even I've been perturbed at the end of a day when I'm looking forward to being done with work, heading home, and spending a few hours with a favorite game, only to discover that I may as well go ahead and make alternative plans because it's going to be a few hours before the game is ready to play. That's not the sort of experience that sells consoles, yet it happens all too often. That was my point.

    PSN+. You have to pay for it, but it allows automatic cloud save uploads so you always have access to your save games as well. Plus free titles and reduced prices. Should be free in my opinion, but you simply get a status report on what's been uploaded/downloaded. Been available over a year now...

    Because the average patient doesn't have the background to understand what they're getting themselves into. Without laws to the contrary snake oil salesman can claim whatever they want about a treatment or medication. Do you really want to live in the 19th century?

    Did you actually read what you replied to?

    "As long as the patient is made aware of the risks."

    That precludes fraud, which eliminates snake oil salesman.

    Obama had all the choice in the world. Obama's tax cuts were passed when the Republicans had no authority to submit legislation in Congress.

    The debt issues came months later.

    All Obama had to do was... nothing. As we heard at the time often, this wasn't a tax hike. It was a tax cut expiration. Obama and the Democratic Congress created and passed a bill to extend them.

    At the time the Obama tax cuts were passed, Democrats had complete control of the Senate with regards to submitting legislation.

    Wait, I'm confused. Is it sitting in hedge funds, or sitting in banks? Sitting in banks there's less risk, but rates are pretty poor. If it's in hedge funds there's risk, but you can make money.

    I just wanted to see if you could clear that up for me?
