You know what kills me? IIS STILL has the list of your sites initially sorted by the date/time installed versus oh, I don't know alphabetical? What kind of basic UI design are they smoking anyway? Been that way since 2000 at least.
I was 5 watching the landing on TV and I remember being kind of annoyed that they preempted the cartoons that morning. I mean what's the big deal? The moon is RIGHT THERE (pointing up)!
So I read the book that guy wrote and while it was entertaining and probably accurate, it still came off as advocating giving billions to defense contractors for some unspecified fix. The forward by Newt Gingrich kinda tipped me off.
Speaking as someone who was fired from every job I ever held (self employed now- 14 years), you need to think long term. You have developed relationships with your current employer and the people who work there and you never know where those people will turn up in the future. I have customers that I used to work for that I never thought I would see again in a million years because of how I left. But you do have to put yourself first. Removing 90 minutes of commute time a day and more money is a great step up. Just treat the current employer with respect, maybe really try to help with the transition.
Mortgage backed securities were fine when the borrowers were vetted like they used to be. That's when they were rated AAA because everyone paid their mortgage for the most part. The problem was when that stopped and people on minimum wage were being given $350,000 loans as a common practice. This American Life/Planet Money have some great episodes about this.
Presuming it was working the way you wanted before, log out, delete all your SlashDot cookies, then log back in. I have to do that every couple of months since the CSS makeover. Last time I was horrified to see Facebook "like" icons! *shudder*
If you are in Vista or 7, find the executable for the java control panel applet and right click to "Run As Administrator". Then what you change will stick.
Hah! I had a client tell me about a problem with the font size on their website (it's already dynamic, set at 1em). His proof was that the person that complained worked for Adobe. Yeah, you know that Reader thing that bugs you all the time? That's Adobe.
Jeez, I have been using MythTV since 2004 first on MythDora, then MythBuntu and after taking a week to set MythDora up in 2004, the 2 MythBuntu installs were way easy. I just downgraded my office machine (Lucid) to.21 so I don't have to upgrade the living room one yet. Maybe the dual tuner Hauppage card I researched first was the key, I don't know. Plus, in the MythBuntu forums I have always found everyone extremely helpful if I had a question.
I fix PC's for a living and I have been seeing this too. Some people all the do is Facebook and they are getting "XP Antivirus" or it's variants, and I know there is no way they are doing anything. They all use Firefox, etc. The last 2 weeks I have been putting on Ad Block Plus and explaining to them what it does because I was having people get infected again in a manner of weeks after I clean it up the first time. I know that kinda sucks for website revenue, but what else is there to do. One guy got infected from Photobucket, and it was repeatable.

KDE has that. Also the rotating cube.

Just saw this today. Guess SourceForge has gone to the dark side. Sad Really.
Why does everyone think I want to type to find something in the menu?
You are a chartered corporation in the US, so you do have some obligations to benefit the US for what you get for that. Oh wait, I guess not.
Yeah, I paid the bribe. Now I am certified!

Felt in here in Maine. My house was moving with the beat on the radio and I was like WTF??? Then I realized.

Yeah, these are the same people that gave mortgage backed securities a AAA rating right up until it was blindingly obvious that they were wrong.
It had something to do with the fact there is no backup shuttle and space needed if an evacuation was necessary.
Amen brother!

On fast neutrons? Apparently slow neutrons are some sort of secret. Shhhh.
Kudos to using the correct term supercritical instead of critical like they do in the movies.
Oh man, that takes me back.

Kudos sir for a fine posting!

It's sad that there are less people like us on this thread than the last one. That was the first thing I thought of. Loved those books.
Northern Data in Maine runs it for all the towns in Maine that use them. My town ditched them last year finally.
Yeah, I couldn't believe it either.
