It depends on the patient. In my opinion, benzodiazepines should NOT be used for long term treatment (anything longer than 2 weeks or so). What I've observed to be most effective is beginning an SSRI (or in some cases SNRI), and if needed using a benzodiazepine to control the symptoms/side effects until the S(S/N)RI has stablized. Then Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while the patient is on the anti-depressants, and then slowly taking them off of the antidepressants.
I disagree. While I feel that recovery should be placed upon the patient, it is important to let them know that they are not responsible for causing the disorder.
My significant other was extremely bothered and felt that she was a failure for having an anxiety disorder, but I remind her that "(She) isn't responsible for having the disorder, but she is responsible for her recovery."
In that case you can either give them an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety agent such as alprazolam [Xanax]), or "put them under"--although I would expect that in all but the strongest cases a benzodiazepine would work well enough.
As a psych student planning on specializing in anxiety/depression, this is great news. A blood test would make it a lot easier for people to acknowledge that they have an anxiety disorder. Currently one of the greatest challenges a psychologist faces in these disorders is getting the patient to see that they really do have one and it is impacting them negatively.
Most of the people on that team did not want the bomb actually used before Japan was given a chance to see the capability that it gave the United States. The majority believed that this would be the case--the mere display of such power would get Japan to surrender, not getting a firsthand perspective by being hit twice.
But how do AV researchers dissect such malware, especially when virus writers have devoted so much time to avoiding detection and perfecting their craft with self-decrypting viruses, polymorphic shellcode, and obfuscated loops.
It is important to note that virus authors who have perfected their craft create viruses that are not found.
My grandmother was hospitalized for brain surgery a year ago, and I spent long days in the hospital. They also had a Waldo, and let me tell you, they were advanced. They would navigate around people, use the elevators (push the buttons, shuffle around in the elevator when it got more/less crowded, wouldn't get into the elevator if it was too full.) It annoyed some of the nurses because it would ask them to do something, and if they were busy so they decided to ignore it, Waldo would remind them every minute or so. I wish everyone at the hospital was as courteous as Waldo;)
As a psychologist this kind of thing really bothers me. Should we not study generalized anxiety disorder because it isn't as harmful as substance addiction?
Similarly, should we let people free who comit armed robbery because murder is a worse problem?
Yes, I did just compare popping popcorn kernels to GAD and armed robbery.
At first I was excited because I thought I was going to get to finally read an enlightening, in-depth article that critically examined the browser. I should have known better.
Should be read as:

I know what you mean about the sense of superiority and I think that it [the complex] is completely rediculous.
Slashdot is "News for Nerds." Then there is "It's not news, it's Fark."
I come to both for seperate reasons and thinking that you are better than another group because you like funny news or you like tech news is, well, idiotic.
But damn, we're better than k5;)
IQ tests as they are used today have a margin of error of about 100%. They were never meant to measure intelligence.

Look in to denial--many people diagnosed with mental disorders go through the same stages that someone diagnosed with say, cancer, would.

Closed registration torrent sites will be able to weed out the poisoners.
Gosh... I'm really trying hard to make this a funny bittorrent joke, but I find that I've just described actual commerce. How depressing.
The depressing part is that you were trying really hard to make a funny BitTorrent joke, right?
Come on, that isn't very fair. I'm a community college student thinking about applying for an internship, and I could write much better responses.
I would die to listen to one of those!
Well, just let me take a quick listen...
They did dumb down a few minor things, but the movie is great.

TOTAL SPACE:
4643Gb > 4.53 Tera bytes (28 Harddrives)
Why is it that the download:upload speed ratios are almost always at least 2:1, and usually 3 or 4? Is it solely to deter servers/filesharing?

No.
Non-profits still have employees, and a lot of them do get paid. Non-profit means that the company's main goal isn't to generate profit.

A theory is an integrated set of principles that organizes and predicts observations.
I know, it's absurd. They SHOULD have replaced it with "%#?!$."

I for one welcome our -1, Offtopic overlords!
Jesus, you listed Baseball Simulator 1000, Ice Hockey, and Bases Loaded...I LOVE those games. You get added as a friend.
I set up my xbox to play NES games and really only play Bases Loaded (and occassionally Bubble Bobble or SMB1/3)
