Dish network charges me $5 a month extra because I subscribe to HBO and nothing else. What difference would it make if I only got sci-fi or another channel?
The way it works is they take the upper channels around 70 thru 130 (but not 95-99, they are in the vhf band) and the put a QAM signal on them. Each 6mhz block or channel has around 10 video streams.
I don't know where the internet downlink is but I read the uplink is on the T-Band that is below channel 2
I live in Arizona and used to know someone with a calling part pays cell phone. It had the same area code as my land line but when you called the number it would say you had to dial a 1. Its not always true now days but it used to be if you dialed a 1 before a number you had a good idea you would be charged for the call. 10 years ago you had to dial 1 before 411 for information since it charged a fee.
The reason is when cell phones came out everyone had unlimited usage land lines. If I am a business man it would be tacky to expect clients to pay to call me.
They used to have cell phones here where caller pays, you had to dial a 1 before the number as if it was a long distance call. They are not used anymore because regular cell phone plans are cheap. For $40 a month I can get a cell phone with unlimited minutes and 600 long distance minutes (from Cricket) that only works in my home city or I can get a national plan with 600 day minutes and unlimited nights and weekends (from t-mobile). Nextel even offers a plan with unlimited incoming minutes so on that plan no party pays.
I disagree, I think NPR is about as balanced as you can get. When they are interviewing someone from one side they interview them alone and sometimes take calls for 15 to 30 minutes. Then the next day they will interview someone with an opposite view. Recently with the talk about social security they had a democrat senator on and the next day they had a republican senator on. Its not like the tv shows where they stick the two together and they scream at each other. On NPR you get to hear them talk.
The problem is people who don't listen to NPR very often don't hear both sides. They did a story on that problem and now at the end of segments they will talk about who they are going to talk to from the other side or that they called the other side and they didn't want to interview. An example was they interviewed a guy from air america about talk radio so they tried to get Rush Limbaugh to interview a counter view and he didn't want to go on npr.
Air America might be Fox News for the left but they don't pretend to be Fair and Balanced.

I bet he was going to try selling you long distance. Thats the only reason qwest ever calls me. If its a call about my service it has always been a recording.
The Colorado river is the border of California and Arizona. I don't think its the dam that stops it from reaching the ocean, the river supplies much of the water for Arizona,Nevada and California. Also this region is in a possible 30 year drought cycle thats been going on for about 10 years now.
Only if my licensed amateur station is causing emissions on your licensed frequencies would I have to stop. If the amateur station is causing interference because the tv is not rejecting signals outside the band it supposed to tune its the tv owners job to install a filter.
If you have seen a law that says otherwise please cite your source.
Don't forget the staff costs of repairing the computers. Time yourself replacing a hard drive in an eMac to replacing a drive in a Dell.
Apple even says to discharge the CRT before attempting to remove the drive. All of Apple's All-in-one models have gotten harder and harder to take apart as new models came out.
Compare a 5xxx to a G3-All-In-One to the original iMac to the Slot loading iMac to the eMac. They get progressively more difficult to take apart.
I have not worked on the g4 imacs so I can't comment on those.
The FCC changed their mind and they are going to keep the VHF channels 2 - 6 for TV. The channels that are going away from TV are 52-69 and those channels are high UHF
From what I have read though, US cell phone service is cheaper than in any other country.

I don't know why they can't do a guide. I can get guide data from PSIP and Gemstar's guideplus OTA.
Mine yelled at me too. I never did have one break.

The cable card doesn't decrypt for your whole house. You need one for each tuner. The cable card Tivo with dual tuners takes two cable cards.

Does that uk price include the extra charges for when you call someone?

When was the post office sold off? I must have missed that

US digital stations are allowed to transmit 4:3 but they usually dont and you end up with the same thing when 16:9 ads come on.
Thats not true, many of the channels charge the cable company per subscriber with ESPN and Disney being the most expensive
It works under limited user where I work
the nuclear plant near phoenix was finished in the late 80s
The torrent points to the tracker and the tracker must have a copy of the file.

Why does it cost money to turn the transmitter off?
