The main problem with this is that a lot of the emulator software doesn't get upgraded. Where I work, we have a 5250 terminal emulator with a specific macro language that will only run on Windows 95/98/NT 4.0. We are already emulating a terminal. Who wants to emulate a 5250 terminal on an emulated windows 95 machine?
A neighbor of mine had an old Apple//c years ago, and one day we decided to 'stress test' a 5.25" floppy disk to see what it would take. We spilled coke on it, coffee, Peanut butter and even jelly. We took the disk out of the enclosure, washed it off, and dried it with a hair dryer. A format later, and it still came up OK with no bad sectors! Amazing!
I have a box of Computer City floppy disks that started growing bad sectors by just sitting in the box unused. They just don't make disks like they used to.
I would value a good manager with a technical background more than a good engineer with management background. I say leave the management to the managers, and make THEM learn the value of logic. That would leave the enigneers more free to USE that logic.
Sure. Just make your first movie with all white backgrounds and sets. That way, when image manipulation technology becomes mainstream, you can color in the backgrounds and sets without re-shooting. Brilliant!
This is how the end of the world begins. First, we connect everything to the internet. Then, a super intelligent AI decides that humans must be exterminated. After that, it's just a matter of a few packets to the right address, and then traffic lights are getting screwed up, draw bridges going up and down, the power in your office building going on and off....
Well, I'm sure that both the graffiti artists in Halifax are perfectly happy using that wall.... But what about cities that have more vandals than walls? I don't think that idea will work in Detroit.
I have been infected with zero viruses, have had 0 browser hijacks, and have installed 0 pieces of spyware (cookies don't count).
I work in IT.
I am running Windows XP Professional, and I am always logged in as ADMINISTRATOR!
How have I avoided problems for all these years? Easy. I follow my own guidelines: Don't execute email attacments, don't install software from untrusted websites, use an antivirus and keep it up-to-date, use windows update. This provides evidence that it is NOT the operating system that is causing problems, but the users who just can't help themselves but to go to online gambling and shopping websites.

My killbot has Lotus Notes, and a machine gun.
You can still drill them out and insert your favorite dumb bolts. Hooray for power drills.
And then, nearly 100 years later, Ma Crick was found to be a monopoly, and was broken up into baby Cricks.

Would you like a free upgrade to Windows Media player version 9? I know I don't. For one simple reason....
DRM.
It's a space station!
NO! Minidiscs for everyone!
But will it sneeze if exposed to bright light?
More like "You can't modify your car to play GTA3" or "You can't modify your house to play 'House of the dead'".
This just proves that countries that don't have the resources to apprehend these scammers shouldn't even be allowed internet access.
If you can't play nicely, you don't get to play at all!

Excellent idea. I have a box full of old games that will only work on a 486 or thereabouts. We should get that stuff together.
I don't really have a use for a 250MB tape drive, but some older machine might.
Can I still use my Cue-Cat?
In Soviet Russia, THX-1138 changes George Lucas!

Now I'm off to shoot a movie that's all black.
"Your vacuum cleaner exterminated my pants.... There was nothing I could do."
Peter Norton, is that you?

Didn't anyone see Maximum Overdrive?

Likewise, both humans and computers can break when you try to do something really stupid.
"Hey Jim, check this out... I can do a backflip...." CRUNCH!
"CometCursor? Whoa, that would be sooo coool!"
So far for the past 2 years I have had:

I reboot MAYBE once a month.
I have been infected with zero viruses, have had 0 browser hijacks, and have installed 0 pieces of spyware (cookies don't count).

You use Butter? Over here, we still use margarine.
Did he fold your mattress into a swan?
I think the white cable running from the stereo to the glove box might give it away.
