The best thing about PHPNuke sites (and the best way to check if a site's running Nuke) is the automagically generated backend.php file. Usually, a site administrator doesn't have to do anything to enable it, and it makes slurping site content so much easier.
Most Slashdotters would PAY a million dollars if they could do that to Bill Gates.

Apart from being one of the stupidest analogies I've heard in a long time, I must wonder about the thought processes behind this 'Book Tracking'.
Is the intent to maintain a database containing lists of readers of 'dubious material'? Do you REALLY want your reading habits logged and monitored. If this was a government project, people will be screaming out loud regarding their rights to read "Catcher in the Rye" without getting a knock on the door at 4am from various TLA organisations.
The article implies that these vunerabilities haven't been patched. Funnily enough, I downloaded the patches from Windows Update last night, thanks to XP's auto-update feature.
Every Operating System and application has bugs. If there were security bugs in Linux or Freeamp, would it warrant front page news?
Not wishing to be Flamebaity at all. MS have a lot of things severely wrong with them. For once they've dealt with an issue in timely fashion. This is not the Anti-MS rhetoric you're looking for.
Artists who make their money from exploiting the capitalist virtues of their labels are often the first to espouse liberal / leftist agendas. Seemingly because they're 'artists' they must therefore adopt an anti-establishment stance. (And you can't get much more 'establishment' than Dubya)
If truth be known, any musician which is signed to a major label and spouts this crap is a filthy hypocrite. Packaged rebellion for the masses.
Do you REALLY think Moby cares about who's in power? He's too busy getting coked up to the eyeballs. A bit like Dubya in his wild youth, ironically enough.
And don't even get me STARTED on Alanis Morrisette!
Set up a company policy - No unauthorised software.
Make damn sure that IM software isn't authorised, and run regular audits on the software installed on employees PC's.
Harsh, but fair. If the company policy specifically states that something cannot be done, then it's up to the employee to behave themselves. Given the current state of IT-based employment, I'd imagine people would want to hold on to their jobs.
The files need to be resampled at a very low resolution in order for the processor to keep up. With the X Box Divx viewer, we're talking full 640x480 resolution, IIRC.
SVCD is essentially a DVD MPEG2 file, cut down so that it'll fit on a normal CD. You can normally fit around 45 Minutes worth of SVCD video onto a CD. Ideal for TV shows, admittedly.
Divx on the other hand has much more efficient compression, to the point of being able to fit a full movie onto a single CD.
The convenience of only having to find one file and burn the one CD is what's going to assure Divx has a future.
Who cares about playing games, it's a nice self-contained PC architecture hacker's toy, like the Dreamcast before it! And it just so happens to have the raw processing ability to decode Divx files in real-time!
99% of the stuff you're printing is going to be black and white anyway, so why not fork out the extra $100 or so and get a budget laserprinter? Considering ink cartridges cost, what, about $50 these days anyway, you'll find the laser option more affordable in the long run.
The biggest criticism I have for Flash interfaces is that authors always break the current web UI standards.
I'll just settle for a Flash or DHTML scrollbar that pays attention to the fact I've got a scrollwheel. If people really MUST re-invent standard UI elements, they should at least do it right.
That sounds like a great idea. Although wouldn't games like FreeCiv and FreeCraft have a different scale, thus making it tricky to design something that works for both?
Either way, has there been any progress towards making a Free-To-Use (Add your fave license to taste here, IANAL) tileset library?
And if not, would anyone like one? I'm crap at programming but I can knock up some graphics for starters.
It looks like the only machine that's melted is the lab1.google.com one. I'm just dreading what the Slashdot effect is going to do to that poor Voice Search phoneline!
including obtaining some precedent for mineral rights on Luna
Who owns the Moon? The country that first planted the flag there, or all of humanity? If the latter, shouldn't the mineral rights be assigned based on a global referendum? The moon is our closest neighbour, so any legal precedent surrounding the exploitation of the cosmos needs to be resolved here.
Thinking about it, I seem to remember a big hoo-hah a few years ago about a company that bought up land rights to the Moon. They were selling patches of land as novelty gifts with their own certificate and everything.
I hope any future lunar exploiters are going to respect the rights of the prior landowners.

I believe this is the first ON-TOPIC Page Widening Post, and should be moderated up accordingly.
The feed's at http://linuxdailynews.net/backend.php, producing good old RSS 0.91.

Is there a LDN Slashbox available yet?

Why is this any different?
Maybe it's time to become the INNOVATORS, rather than copying the Win32 line of User Interfaces, which frankly, are getting stale.
Take a look at the visual inventiveness of Mac OS X for starters. There's a GUI that's worthy of the 21st Century.

Excellent work!
The UK, after all, has a worse rail safety history than the average rollercoaster.
No lie. With all the anti-Muslim propaganda currently in the news, I feel it's best to try to understand things from another point of view.
Because in the end, we're not that different!
In case anyone's interested, the Onion article is here! (No goatse.cx links, sorry!)
TOTALLY believable!
Last I heard, they'd dumbed it down bigstyle at the request of Hasbro so that it would appeal to the Pokemon players.
I hear there's a newer edition out now - have they reinstated Interrupts?

But where are the games? I presume there's a few projects on the go, but which one would people recommend as a good introduction to the engine?
I think the name was 'Indrema'.

It's a sad state of affairs when Amusement Parks have stricter safety regulations than a country's rail infrastructure!
