  3. This is informative and not funny on Solar Power-Cell Breakthrough · · Score: 1

I swear I saw couple of these posts by slashdot this year. By this time, solar power should cost similar to toilet paper. However, given that we live in the states, anything that is big and heavy and fragile will cost a lot even the material is free. So it really mean a little to nothing to end users.

  4. Re:Dreamcast was not a flop on The Top 21 Tech Flops · · Score: 1

I can't agree more, a flop is a hype that when you bought it, you will punch your nuts afterwards. Dreamcast was a flop for Sega as a business, but certainly not a flop for the owner. I was a happy owner for years. People who complained about dreamcast are the one who didn't even own them.

  5. ubuntu does the same thing too. on Vista Security — Too Little Too Late · · Score: 1

When you first install ubuntu, you will be prompted to create an user during installation, that users is automatically placed in the sudo list. When you tried to configure something that require admin privilege, it will prompt you for your password. So is command prompt, you will need to put sudo in front of the command to get admin privilege. However, for linux, your windows manager would remember your elevated privilege for a while so the same task would not ask you for the same login/password again for a while. For windows, it's kept coming back again and again.

Sell the LCD monitor on ebay for $150 and you have a very good computer for $300 that you can do whatever you like. Not a $230 machine that you can't do anything on.

I use my HTPC to listen to my mp3 and view my media files. I can only selectively listen/view from all media files that I download. There is really no point to burn it to a dvd or CD an view them, it would be a waste of my time and money. Ahanix D5 is really attractive if it's at least $100 less. With Dell deals that you can get a decent computer for $350, a low end Denon receiver 1905 is around $300. $215USD for an empty shell with a 300W power supply is really too steep. I guess you can set it to that price when there are no competition.

Well, I think it won't cause them much to make them since those chips are quite small and they are producing them in large quantity.
