I guess I was just lucky. About two years ago, when they first offered to send out free install discs to the first someodd requestors, I got my req in about a month or three too late.
They apologized for not having a disc handy, but promised to send one anyways. They did. And another one when they updated. And another one with yet another update.
FINALLY I get something other than fucking AOL discs.
Don't really know if I can agree with you on that one. This k6-2 450 craptop is utilizing one of those types of distros (you know who you are) . . . the kind that you wouldn't take home and introduce to the parent(s).
At any rate, it took about four hours to have a workable system, about 8 hours with the extra crap.
Of course, the heatsink melted . . . and ide1 no longer functions . . .
Being happy is the most important thing, and if you'd be happier as an auto mechanic than a programmer, be an auto mechanic.
Not to mention the fact that the average mechanic can jack the consumer a metric assload more than the average programmer . . . can you say "we fixed your tail-light, that'll be fitty dollah?"
It does bother me somewhat, though, that somebody would ask us bunch of fools how to raise a child.
I guess the best advice I can give is that you should forsake any and all advice and just go with your instinct. If it was good enough for the Flintstones, it's good enough for us.
(The -only- reason the prof I report to has the root password is in case I call in dead, and even in that case, it's in a sealed envelope, and he doesn't know what it is without cracking it).
When should we expect to see the distributed.net Envelope Cracking Client?
Typically, looking said sales associate(s) square in the eyes and saying "don't need it . . . I own a screwdriver" is enough to get them to leave me alone.
What about good old Special K?
Sure, they tend to be a little fatter than most pens, but I tend to prefer a nice ho made foutain pen, particularly if i be da ho what made it.

As end users, we should very well be taking our own futures into account.
Thusly, I suggest that EVERYBODY phone SCO to inquire about a license. Details as to exactly why can be found here.

Couldn't this have been summed up with a simple "you suck?"

Man . . . one zipper is causing another zipper to get stuck, which in turn could cause the zipper to break.
That's almost about as bad as gettin' it caught in the zipper.

Then they might have a strong case . . . 80 lines of identical random ASCII would be a real bitch to counterprove.

laptop + stereo + crond + cdplay
NOTHING will wake you up quite like 200W of treble-filled anything.

My pacemaker's been going strong for . . . .
If you have a screwdriver/hammer, Linux aboslutely cannot keep you from touching the hardware. Period.

Yours suffers from oral diarrhea as well, eh?

Mead has been selling barebones notebooks FOREVER. You just have to provide an input device.
High-end Mead notebook: $3.00 USD
Run of the mill input device: $1.00 USD

Well, I have a eMachines eSlate 450k (yeah . . . i know) that ran QNX relatively well, so I'd imagine that just about ANYTHING would.

How many Germans does it take to replace a light bulb?
If engineered properly, ZERO!

I want to say that it was either Carlin or Gallagher. Has a bit of the Dice man's sentiment, but not quite his style.
