I hated the ending, but I mostly agree with this. My one disagreement would be about the hollywood vs artistic ending. That's not what the problem was. The problem was that the ending flew in the face of everything the series previously established. But if you're going to go down that road then stick with your decision; don't let a vocal minority drive your creative process.
Murder has a specific legal meaning. Hurting someone's feelings to the extent that they kill themselves, as fucked up as it might be, is not murder. I would have liked her to be charged with something substantial, but there just is not any legal basis for it. Or do you have more legal experience than everyone involved in the (attempted) prosecution? Maybe you should have taken on their case pro bono.
That's ultimately the crux of the situation. This guy is obviously a grade-A asshole, but did he actually commit a crime? If the victim did not kill himself would this situation have blown up like it did? Personally I don't think so. It's a tragic story, and I would like this guy to be punished in some manner, but as far as I can tell no crime was actually committed. Trying to shoehorn it into something covered by hate crime legislation is just a desperate grasp for justice. There was a similar story a while ago about some sick fuck of a woman humiliating a girl on Facebook to the extent that she ended up killing herself. There was no way to fit that into hate crime legislation and if I recall correctly the woman ultimately did not end up in any legal trouble.
I agree; this is my biggest problem with the inevitability of online only retail. I don't mind buying (relatively) cheap items more-or-less blind, but when you start getting into hundreds and thousands of dollars it's harder to part with your money without seeing the item in person. Reviews are a nice source of information, but they can only tell you so much.
Another thing is that it's nice to go browsing every once in a while. Generally when you're going to buy something online you know ahead of time what you want; you don't really browse online in the traditional sense. I remember going to CompUSA and Circuit City and coming across all kinds of cool things (this was way back before everything turned to shit).
Sadly I think the only thing that's going to give brick-and-mortar retail a chance is taxing online retail, but at this point it's probably too late even for that. It's kind of sad thinking that in the future nobody's going to go to the store to buy anything anymore; it's all going to be shipped from a sterilized warehouse by computers and robots.
This is one of those things that I've just never really understood; I guess it must be a language idiosyncrasy. This Sunday IS the next Sunday! It can only ever be the next Sunday. It can't be the previous Sunday, so what other Sunday could it possibly be?
I wouldn't go quite that far, though it does seem like Islam has a greater tendency towards extremism than other contemporary religious. Christianity does have the benefit of a half-century head start; taking time into consideration perhaps Islam is not so far off from where Christianity was. Either way, I see these things as more of a cultural schism than a religious one. Or do you think taking away the invisible man in the sky will make all our problems go away?
Gary Johnston: We're dicks! We're reckless, arrogant, stupid dicks. And the Film Actors Guild are pussies. And Kim Jong Il is an asshole. Pussies don't like dicks, because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes: assholes that just want to shit on everything. Pussies may think they can deal with assholes their way. But the only thing that can fuck an asshole is a dick, with some balls. The problem with dicks is: they fuck too much or fuck when it isn't appropriate - and it takes a pussy to show them that. But sometimes, pussies can be so full of shit that they become assholes themselves... because pussies are an inch and half away from ass holes. I don't know much about this crazy, crazy world, but I do know this: If you don't let us fuck this asshole, we're going to have our dicks and pussies all covered in shit!
Even if you disregard the trash that is posted, from a purely technical standpoint if your website shows ZERO content (not even a warning message or anything) without the use of javascript then you fucking fail.
I already had a relatively expensive plan so it was only a few bucks for me, but some people's plans almost doubled in price. Granted $7 or $8 is not that much in the scheme of things, but if my price doubled overnight without bringing any improvements in the service then I might also be pissed. I understand it was out of Netflix's control, but the condescending (lack of) explanation was a huge misstep. They should have just been forthcoming and honest about it and a lot of this rage could have been avoided.
Don't underestimate the vastness and danger of space. We are just barely taking our first steps and still blowing up every so often. A probe seems more plausible, but you can only build so many; where do you send them? There are so many systems of so many stars. If life were common, we'd probably have found something by now. If life is not common, we may not find anything for some time. If life is isolated to this single planet, that would be incredibly depressing.

Did you guys realize that George Lucas is giving the 3D treatment to all the Indiana Jones movies next? I am not joking. FUCK MY LIFE

Granted I am not familiar with the law on that side of the pond, but here in the States we have governors pardoning child killers.

My dick won't get hard until video cards take up 4 expansion slots and require 2 kW power supplies. Shiiiiiiiiiiiit.

Was she hot?
In the long run the universe will achieve heat death.

The most relevant and insightful comment gets modded down as usual. Typical Slashdot.
Yeah, you're probably right. Why would governments need backdoors in the phone when they're already got unfettered access to the wire?
So the United States and Indian governments are claiming the memo is a fake, and we are supposed to believe them? Right...
Santa at least leaves you tangible evidence of his existence, so one could argue that the case for Santa is stronger than the case for God.

Perhaps, but if I put a gun to your head then it's not really a choice, is it?
