Oh Oh So I'll finally get to see a full length movie of that girl featured on the perennial pop-up ads for the X10 cameras?

Methinks that some bored kid got tired of all the webcam pron sites out there and went out to make his own "real" digital version of a voyeur binoculars

I think you hit a big point here. The reason many people are liberals is because they take issue mostly with the positions conservatives take because a vast majority of them are christian.
IF the party were to drop all those beliefs that are a direct result of their religious beliefs (whatever happened with the curch and state sepparation) then I believe the conservatives would be a hell of a lot more appealing to a bunch more people.

As a matter of fact it strikes me odd that most of the slashdot crowd is liberal and keeps complaining when new stupid laws get passed ... remember the whole liberal = big govt idea?

Form an idea people, start your own party, speak out for the fact that none of the 2 parties really represents your views, give the underdog a chance

Think about it. If this means that you can have your linux kernel and your most used apps on a drive like this (persistent) your boot times would be in the ms range. Also we would finally go back to the era where the speed of the CPU is a bottleneck and not the disk speed.
I have been looking for a decent solution where I can create a RAM drive so I can have my OS on it for years but still nothing good out there. (I did see that IDE interface that allows to hook-up SDRAM but that's too damn expesive). If this takes off we are going to see a new age in the clock-based computing as we know it.

So it's unidentified, on a distant planet ...
We have trouble identifying everything flying our own skies but now we have to worry about aliens invading our "yet to be conquered" planet.
That should bolster the arguments for building that interplanetary cannon so shoot down asteroids and other mean things coming our way. Wait, it could be a terrorist plot to take over Mars, better establish a base there, pronto.

Am I the only one here that thinks C does not have a problem and the only reason you have all these leaks and problems is because the so called C programmers can't really program in C?

If I remember correctly one of the strenghts of the C language is precisely that lack of enforcement in that area. It means you can effectively program drivers and such. I am not even mentioning the fact that it probably is the closest you can get to the machine except assembly language ...

So yeah, as long as there will be lousy C programmers ...

  9. Review of series so far on Children Of Dune Tonight · · Score: 1

I have just read Dune and The Prophet and I am almost done with Children of Dune. I did this in anticipation of the new series. The first series, Dune, was great given budgets and all. Acting was not that great really (Irulan and the Baron were great ... and I think that's about it). Close to the book but for a purist there were parts where I cringed. Children of Dune so far is dissapointing in regards to closeness to the book. Acting is just about as bad as the previous one. Again, given the budget it's actually good. As far as those of you who didn't like the end of The Prophet and/or The God Emperor I think you just missed alot in those books or just plain did not understand everything in those books. It certainly did take me a while until I got it. Those books have great lessons to teach to those who listen. Many people miss those lessons and are confused by the books. Flame away ... I don't really read Slashdot anymore, but I had to comment on this particular topic because it is so dear to me. As always, these are just my own personal opinions and if you don't like them ... well, I don't care.

The problem with paradoxes is that once one "exists" you cannot "fix" it without introducing another one.

One more thing ... Star Wars are movies to be enjoyed at their face value ... if you spend too much time analysing their "depths" you deserve the anguish. You people give George Lucas too much credit. I'll bet you that he never thought about all these things in as much depth as you have :)
