  1. True Innovation on Microsoft's Annual Report Reveals OSS Mistakes · · Score: -1

I had to say something, it was bothering me :) First and foremost, I have yet to see true innovation from Microsoft. If anything, I've seen innovation ripped from the free and open source company by companies such as Apple and Microsoft. Look at the various GUI features that Apple and Microsoft both scream about, yet how many of these features were available in the Open Source and Free Software communities long before they implemented them? Also, is it not funny that Microsoft is creating a server with no GUI... Where in God's green earth did they get this idea? I'm not saying Microsoft didn't contribute their fair share. They made personal computing available to the masses. Yet, was this truly innovative? Or did they steal their ideas from Apple and Xerox? I think Mr. Ballmer is scared because he realizes the threat of the F/LOSS community. Various projects are maturing at a rapid pace thanks to the free time of developers, graphic designers, usability engineers, computer scientists, and just people who do it as a hobby. I guess he doesn't realize that people from all over the world do it for the fun of it or to scratch one's own itch. I do not think F/LOSS will replace Microsoft anytime soon, but I definitely do think that they have been eating a big market share and Microsoft is definitely seeing some damage. So... in conclusion... ::: Gives Ballmer the Finger ::: ::: Ducks to Avoid Flying Chair :::

  3. Re:Stress is normal. Live with it. on Schools Banning Homework? · · Score: -1

Actually, stress is not normal. I think society is trying to push that as
an unpleasant truth to keep people working and motivated. Stress has
been proven to shorten lifespan and cause numerous health issues (ulcers,
hair loss, etc.). I believe our current system is broken. Why should we have
to feel stressed pursuing our career? As an advanced civilization, why can't
we set out what we need to accomplish for the betterment of the human race
    without having to feel pressure?

Stress is more of a state-of-mind then we should learn to avoid, not to cope with.
Due to a pressing deadline, we can work more hours without feeling stressed.
We are just taught that the anxiety and pressure is natural and to "cope" with it.
To constantly feel content, to be in a sound state of mind, is a better solution
than "to cope" (usually pursue some physical activity to release some aggression).
I am very athletic and believe in physical activity, but I do not believe it to
    be a permanent therapeutic solution.

    Just my humble opinion!

Though it is not out yet, it will cause a computer to boot in record time.

The session is saved in RAM, so when power is removed, RAM stays the same.
When you hit the power button again, it just starts where it left off.

  8. Not completely comparable on Browser Vulnerability Study Unkind to Firefox · · Score: -1

Firefox is relatively more of a newer product than IE. Also, Firefox's vulnerabilities are being discovered by third person's and their grandma who can actually look at the code and identify them. How many vulnerabilities exist in IE and which ones are getting fixed? We can't compare this to Firefox only because IE is closed source and we just don't know how many there are. Lastly, this article only shows the number of vulnerabilities, and not the severity of the them. If IE has 25 severe vulnerabilites within a month and Firefox has 3 severe vulnerabilities (but a total of 30), I'd say that the total number clearly is not representative.
