I run a newsletter for one type of craft that is popular among women over 50.
A lot of them are having a hard time understanding the concept of a double opt-in, let alone adding something to the whitelist. A lot of the users are simply not computer savvy, and there is nothing wrong with that.

On top of that, I run a message board in the same niche.
Last night, I received a spam complaint from Hotmail about a "reply notification" e-mail sent to one board member.

    http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/1408.page

That person has been a member of the board for months and posted several hundred messages on the board.
So I seriously doubt she decided that my board is spam all of the sudden, and then changed her mind (about 5 hours after I'd locked the account) and registered a new account so she could as why the old one isn't working.

Why did it happen? It's because she didn't add my sending address to a whitelist and one time Hotmail decided that my e-mail is spam and put it in the junk folder. And when she tried to empty her junk folder, she didn't notice that e-mail among a bunch of real spam. And so now, I have one more registered complaint with Hotmail.

Not a week goes by without me getting spam complaints from large providers via the feedback loop.

Is it my fault? No. Is it her fault? No.
Yet, I'm pretty sure that my deliverabiliy rate to Hotmail will go down because of the complaints.

Why would the US want anything to do with it? This is an issue between the UK and Russia. US is for strong sanctions against Iran over their nuclear program. Russia is against such sanctions. EU is somewhat-maybe-possibly... On top of that, US is against the sale of air defense weapons to Iran, because it would obviously make it harder to invade. So what do we have? A big scare is started in Europe that involves "Russia" and "nuclear". Given that an average person won't care for the difference between palladium and uranium -- they both sound scary, the timing of the whole thing is really weird. It seems like a really dumb thing for the Russian government to do... at this time. Especially since all the time-tested methods for taking care of people like burglary or car accidents are as available as they ever were. Now let's think who could benefit from this situation?

I disagree, Windows has only one advantage over Linux and that is games. - Well, there are three reasons i'm not using linux or freebsd (actually freebsd would be my first pick, but that's not the point) for a workstation: 1) There is no Internet Explorer for X :) I need it for my work, when I have to inspect what designers have done and I need to be able to see it exactly as our clients will. 2) Lack of support for foreign encodings (that's more of the X's problem but, still windows takes care of everything). And please, don't try telling my that everything works fine, I tried. Compared to windows - X running under linux, freebsd or any *nix for that matter, is far behind. And if one should note that the problem is neither with os not with X, but with the applications - well then think about the windows api where it takes little effort to make an app multilingual. .... Oh, yeah, and the reason #3 - "drag and drop", babe :) which will probably never happen in the X world. What is available now - is practically nothing.
