You can do that from windows explorer, and you could before IE was "part of the os," so that's a windows core function, not an IE function. As for browsing pages from a server like that, click on the files in the browser once you navigate to them.

Well, my 73 year old grandfather who doesn't own and has never used a computer knows there is a difference between PC's and Mac's and all the security problems in windows. That's because he reads the news, and has a subscription to consumer reports. You'd have to be really sheltered not to at least be familiar with what is going on.

That's why company's normally give options. They are not taxable until after you SELL the stock, and if you bought your options and were able to hold onto them for two years, you would then be able to sell them and only pay capital gains tax instead of income tax.

I could be wrong about the two years, but It's something on that order.

In developing countries, licensing cost are astronomical compared to labor charges, so even if all the MS FUD were true for the US and Europe regarding TCO, it wouldn't be the case in developing countries since the cost of training and paying labor to do upkeep on the systems would be relatively low. I'm not saying I believe TCO is higher for linux, just that it would still be cheaper in developing countries.

In order to run windows and OSX simulataneously, the CPU would have to be able to execute x86 instructions. PPC windows was no doubt mentioned to get another OS in the mix.

Current macs won't even boot OS9, so there is no way they would start running that again.

Partitioning the system is essentially the goal so that you could install and configure two separate logical servers with only one machine. It helps with configuration conflict issues. It's a very common practice on mainframes.

Lots of people can't move from windows because the sites they need to look at only work in the Windows version of IE. If the marketshare for IE goes down because of FireFox, sites will follow by making their pages work on it. At the same time, people will have a familiar application they can use when switching, so I would guess that this may help other platforms.
