The article didn't discuss removal of Sony's DRM software once it gets installed on your computer? How difficult is it to remove this DRMware?
Is it as simple as using Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs or do I need a malicious software removal tool such as Ad-Aware or Spybot Search and Destroy. It's not really Adware or Spyware, but it's just as bad. Hopefully these popular removal tools will pick up DRMware as well.
Reclassification as an information service, hopefully will get rid of the telephone taxes applied to DSL by many phone companies.
I presently have cable but would like to try DSL since it's almost as fast and cheaper, but I refuse to pay the almost 50% (NY & Federal) telephone taxes that would be tacked on for DSL.
"--and hopefully IP over power lines and WiMax down the road."
We definitely don't want IP over power lines. It's a major source of RFI (radio frequency interference) in the short wave (HF & VHF) bands. Emergency and other licensed radio services may be impaired by the spectrum pollution caused by BPL.
I downloaded The new version of Windows Update Yesterday. I just tried to check for updates. When I pressed custom - It's asking me to download a new version of Windows Update:
Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)
443 KB , less than 1 minute
The Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool enables you to verify that your copy of Microsoft Windows is genuine. The tool validates your Windows installation by checking Windows Product Identification and Product Activation status. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.
Spread Spectrum transmitters operating at 2.4GHz are allowed to operate at 1 watt power output. All 802.11 B/G transmitters fall into the spread spectrum category.
Most of the off the shelf 802.11 equipment operates in the 20mW to 100mW range. You would still likely be within the legal power limit even with a high gain antenna attached.
Firefox is my primary browser, but not all Web sites are rendered correctly and I end up having to use IE anyhow. IE is still faster loading than Firefox.
If IE7 does everything that Firefox does and continues to load faster, I would probably use it as my primary browser, rather than dealing with 2 browsers and 2 sets of bookmarks.
I've always wondered why people throw a fit about a 5 year old operating system losing support. Imagine trying to support RedHat 5, which was released around the same time as Windows 2000.
XP is newer, but not necessarily better. Windows 2000 is one of the best and probably the most stable operating system that Micro$oft has ever produced. There is no compelling reason to switch a well functioning Win2K system to XP. Again, If it's not broken, why does it need to be fixed?
Is there a specific technical reason why IE7 wouldn't run on Win2K or is Micro$oft doing something intensionally to keep it from running? The operating systems aren't that different. They are both varients of Windows 5.xx. I don't particularly want to downgrade to XP to take advantage of IE7.
I do believe that Windows 2000 is the better of the two operating systems because of it's better stability and fewer emcumberances.
I Won't be happy until I see the new series of Doctor Who premiered in the U.S.
I've watched every episode of Dr. Who here in the US two hours after it aired on the BBC. The whole season in Xvid format is still sitting on my hard drive. If you want to watch it, why don't you just download the episodes like everyone else in the US. BitTorrents are available for the whole season. The DVD box set is supposed to be out this fall.
I agree that most of the SciFi Channel programming is crap, but there is some good stuff.
BTW, The Canadian and British downloads of Stargate and Battlestar are cleaner than the stuff that airs over SciFi Channel. Those annoying banners and SciFi Icon at the bottom of the screen are notably absent in the off shore versions. There's even a Hi Def version coming out of Australia.
McMillan received a letter from North Shore Agency, a leading debt-collection firm.
My daughter was receiving similar letters from North Shore Agency for a bogus "alleged debt". I filed a complaint of harrassment against North Shore with the New York State Attorney General's office. The collection letters and phone calls stopped immediately and I received a letter of apology from North Shore.
Instead, the electricity gobbled up by these sets is used to play videogames, watch movies on DVD, or view old Jane Fonda exercise tapes. This means that, despite what the clueless techno-pundits in the mainstream newspapers and magazines whine about, it's not likely that there will be riots in the streets or calls for impeachment once the Feds finally decide to put a padlock on the analog TV broadcasting spectrum.
I live in a poor reception area so there's not much over the air broadcasting that I can receive. But then, I'm too cheap to pay the "Robber Baron" Cable Company for what is essentually free if you have broadcast reception.
I get most of my broadcast programming from C Band Satellite Wild Feeds (Most of the Syndicated programming is here) that is supplemented with Internet Downloads. I enjoyed a wonderful season of Dr. Who 2005 and I'm looking forward to the summer season of both Stargates and Battlestar Galactica.
8. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the FM transmitter produces an output frequency audio signal in a range of from about 85 to about 95 Megaherz.
The patent can probably circumvented by incorporating a transmitter frequency range that differs from that claimed in the patent. 88 to 108 MHz would be a good choice.
Perhaps Belkin is licensed by the patent owner and pays royalties.
Either that, or the patent holder is afraid to take on Belkin for fear of losing the patent. Belkin is pretty big and has very deep pockets. Whoever has the most money wins - Isn't that how it works?
It would be nice if it had enough power to play back Xvid or Divx video files, but if mp3 files skip under Linux, there's probably no hope.
Does anybody know what processor the latest iMacs use?
My guess is that US based memory maker Micron filed a complaint because they lost the bid. They've done this in the past.
I just stuff their junk mail into their prepaid envelope along with some selected nuggets from the cat's litter box and send it all back to them.
I didn't see any News Readers or IRC clients either.
MPAA,
If it can be viewed, It can be copied. What part of that don't you understand?
An IR Filter in front of the camera lens should take care of the problem.

This is as dumb as it gets.
At $250,000 a year, It would be cheaper to buy a new VCR.

I had a lot of IE related crash problems with Windows 98, but I rarely have the problem with Windows 2000

Some Interesting Observations:
1. There are no females on the list.
2. They are all Black
Actually, I meant the iPod or more specifically, the new 60gig photo ipod with a color display. Do you know what processor is used here?
