  2. Why do we need protection? on Finnish Minister Wants To Expand Pornography Censorship · · Score: 1

Porn doesn't assault people online. It doesn't jump out from the shadows. Porn doesn't stalk people and attack them from behind. In fact, the viewer has to take some deliberate action to end up with porn on their screen. If porn itself isn't the problem, is it the children? Are they what we are trying to save? In that case wouldn't it be better to watch who goes to child porn sites and then investigate them to see if they are abusing children? Wouldn't that protect far more children than trying to ineffectually block porn sites? You CAN stop bank robbers by closing all the banks, but wouldn't that be a stupid solution?

  3. marijuana smoke is a treatment not a cure on Software That Flagged HBO.com For Piracy Will Power U.S. 'Six Strikes' System · · Score: -1, Offtopic

Marijuana is a last resort choice for people with difficult to treat illnesses. it is also the only relief from some prescription drug side effects. Your attitude is like saying everyone who uses prescription pain killers is a drug addict. When you have to use marijuana as a medicine then 'stoned' becomes another side effect that must be managed. It isn't fun when you have to be stoned every day whether you feel like it or not. You have to have fairly significant symptoms that are relieved by marijuana in order for it to be an attractive alternative. Specifically, the amount you gain from the relief has to be greater than what you lose to being stoned every day. It is a choice that medical marijuana users must make every day because it is always attractive to finish that little job before dosing. The little job takes all day and side effects come back. Happens every time.
