    Funny thing about DRM schemes,

Now not like this new information but historically when some kind of a secret code was used to keep a secret message secret the intent of the code was to prevent the 'un-trusted' from reading it. When the message is / if delivered the trusted party they would have the means to decipher it.

Now 'secret messages' are being used where the content is delivered to the 'un-trusted'. ..

If it was not tragic it would be pretty damn funny that now we have terms like 'trusted computing' WTFO ? I mean now I am supposed to buy something from a manufacture, by laying down my hard earned green, for a product where I the customer is not to be trusted. ?? What next, ya' buy a house and don't get the keys ??

I am a windowZ user. Oh well, that is just the way it is. It is just a stupid needs thing on my part, I am not trying to start a thread on the perceived MAC-Windows War. I use engineering applications schematic capture and PCB layout (with router) and some mechanical. A few crappy 8 bit 'PIC' compilers.

In my opinion Mac-s have always been a premium product. Price and quality. Now I have the option to use one in the Windows environment. (viruses, blue screen of death. Contributing to M$ and all.) at least now I have that option. I will admit that I am cheep but will most likely buy one on the MAC Minis to use in my living room (for entertainment, music and video). I am not a gamer and PC-s are so F***ing ugly.

I know of a number of sales types that are seriously considering a MacBook Pro. They look nice. Dell note books are so 'average' and Big Blues's think pads are now made by the Red's.

From a marketing stand point I can see why Apple did this. Why would the core Mac user even care. Just don't use the crap if you don want - need it. ( the way censorship on TV should work, if it offends you TURN IT OFF)

I don't see Jobs micromanaging Disney. The big question here is what is his influence going to be. Now like it or not at least in the traditional corporate sense this would seem to serve Disney's interest.

Now just who is going to stand up at Disney and say "It is now time for Mickey to enter the public domain" OR " it's great that a customer can buy a copy of Fantasia on a DVD and play it for ever" (granted we all know that 4ever and DVD is total BS). Do you really think Jobs is going to stand up and try that in the Disney culture?

I would prefer it to stay statues quo, but this is about the buck$ and not personal wants\ needs. (I understand that the 3$ a minute currently is cost prohibitive for many of our business travelers)

One another note, if cell phones become approved for usage on airlines in mass will this cause any kind of unforeseen burden on cell phone networks. At 40K feet one cell phone would be able to link to a lot more cells than when it is on the ground. Would the system be confused by this? I would imagine that the signal strength would be quite similar in a number of the adjacent cells that are picking up the phone. Maybe this is mute, even with a number of full 747's over head in the bigger picture it probably is not that many phones in a given area ???

I did read TFA, and in my opinion it is subjective at best. It was not a driving test. Some one who testes out OK might freak out when push comes to shove (in a real car in true danger) and their neck is on the line. Now my bias would be of the hang up and drive side of things. I hate cell phones (not technically just as to the culture that they have spawned in us humans). It also fits into our driving behavior (very selfish and self centered.) Now I don't expect anything to change, it will only get worse. Just the way it is.

There are going to be plenty of people who believe they can talk (on the phone) and drive. Now does this take into account if they can drive worth a crap in the first place ?? The premises that a 'gamer' would be better at this is BS. Example .. 16 year old just got drivers license. Might be ass-kick at GTA or some shit, who cares.

This gets down to values, If you are a real good driver with the finest of multitasking skills and you feel you are good enough to do both so be it. I am only saying that one will drive better with out the distraction. Now maybe we are talking about driving good enough to get the job done... humm

My brother has and does own Alphas' and has had good experiences with them however he is an 'enthusiast' owner, not a turnkey operator.

About 15 years ago I use to get around primarily on my Shovelhead (A type of Harley Davidson Motor Cycle) and a friend of ming was selling a 1971 Motoguzzi Ambassador MC (that was running, incomplete partial restoration completed) I purchased it because it had a 50's look flared and streamlined. Now Micro$oft is going to make "changes" to IE, just what is no longer compatible? Let me guess, all older versions of IE. Are all web pages no longer going to be able to support older versions of IE with out "infringing"? Now which versions of the Microsoft OS are going to get new versions of IE? Win XP for sure, Win2K? Win9x will probably not get a new version. Now it will become unusable.

Now it's easy to start a rallying cry about getting new users on the LINUX platform, by suggesting that disgruntled users will switch. However most of them are probably not really tech savvy and were really stressed to get their AOL CD into the computer in the first place.
