    However, just for curiosity I read "Steve Jobs" by Walter Isaacson and was blown away.
    I hadn't enjoyed a book that much in a long time, and I mainly read non-fiction.

    Cool! I'll have to buy that for my Kindle with the Apple eBook Settlement money I got through Amazon.

    I's not necessarily fair to say that all Republicans are for more FBI/etc domestic spying - the Libertarian wing of the party certainly isn't.

    If I could play WoW solo or have my own server & only play with friends, I'd probably get back into it again.

  5. Happened when I was in a car accident. I was dazed for maybe 20-30 seconds, then got my phone out and called for help. They had fire responders on scene in under 2 minutes, police 30 seconds later and EMS in about 4. In that case, it didn't matter, everyone was fine other than bruises, but had there been something serious, it is much more likely it could have been dealt with. The only reason the response was so fast was that it was in a populated area, and that I was able to call for help almost immediately.

    My Ford Explorer & my wife's Ford Escape have a 9-1-1 assist mode that will call 9-1-1 automatically if you're in an accident. I'd imagine that the majority of newer cars would have it as well. Since I've owned mostly jalopies for the past 15 years, I was very pleased to see that as a feature.

    Still, doesn't "Axel Gembe awoke in the small German town of Schonau im Schwarzwald to find his bed surrounded by police officers bearing automatic weapons... The corridors were lined by police, squeezed into his father's house..." seem excessive to arrest a guy who hacked a game company?

    Documenting that some portion of your revenue is not, per the tax code, taxable income is not the same as asking the government to give you some of the money someone else spent the day making. How are you not clear on this?

    I'm clear as crystal on it. I was referring to the Congresswoman's perspective...

    Their phone was released 6 months before the iPhone. Unless you think that they invented time-travel, the odds are that their design was completed long before the iPhone in question was released.

    Yeah, it probably was, but can you say that these two designs really resemble each other?

    Adults have the right to consume any substances they choose so long as they do not hurt others while doing so.

    Because the war on drugs is big $$$ for the government. It gives them an excuse to tax even more. You need $$$ to pay for all of those police, prosecutors, prisons, and education (read: indoctrination) programs. It also gives the goverment the ability to steal from people for no reason. If you think they're going to stop this insane war on drugs, you might be crazy yourself! ;-)

    You realize "yeah, but everyone else did it" doesn't make it okay that she did it as well? Whatever you need to do to rationalize your support though...

    None of it matters. Her followers are willing to forgive any behaviour, no matter how crass, ignorant, or even downright evil. Hillary literally would be able, as he pointed out, shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and still get elected president. They just don't care.

    Back in the 90's, when Hillary was First Lady, a friend of mine said she could tap dance on a box of puppies with stiletto heels and her supporters would find a reason to blame the puppies.

    The thing I hate about Optical disks isn't the disk itself, it's that optical disc readers in computers are by far the least reliable piece of hardware on the box.

    Even Apple's Optical Discs. The DVD drive on my iMac was replaced once under warranty, and the new one quit working about 6 months after my AppleCare ran out. I think the one on my MacBook Pro still works, but I can't even remember the last time I inserted a disc.

    Personally I'm planning on writing in Bernie Sanders (or Bernard Sanders - I'm not sure how finicky they are about names). It's either that or not vote at all since between Trump and Hillary there is no way to determine the worse of two evils.

    You know there are more than two choices, right?

    You forgot the innovation where they make the most recent episode of a TV show on OnDemand expire the same day you're watching it, so if you're just starting a series, you'll either have to binge watch or pay to see the most recent episodes later.

    At least people who see "homeopathic" on a box have not been deceived as to their purchase. They're just generally deluded, it's not Walgreen's that is lying to them.

    Seems like the "well regulated militia" part of that right would go a long way to preventing lone mentally ill people obtaining guns and murdering large numbers of people. Time to lobby for full implementation of the 2nd Amendment.

    At the time it was authored, well regulated did not mean what you think it means today, and the militia consisted of all free males of military age.

    I'd say that shows very clearly that depending on the cops for protection is a losing strategy. If you want to protect yourself, your friends and loved ones, and innocent people around you, you should carry at all times.

    Ironically, the idea of being able to defend yourself seems to be anathema to some people...

    Well, he was a registered Democrat, so the blame has to lie elsewhere. Not saying that all Muslims are terrorists, nor that the reason he did this was because he was a Democrat. Just trying to point out how once again a mass shooting goes against the narrative that all of this is being done by Christian conservative NRA members...
