I, being English, had no idea who A-rod is, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. I'd always considered an athlete to refer to people that do the sports that are played at Athletics Championships - you know, track and field, javelin, high jump, that sort of thing.
It seems that other people in the world have a different idea of that to me - who knew?:)
No one forces you to stop using 1960s muscle cars. If you owned one, you can continue to own it forever. You can also legally maintain and service it, and it is compatible with still-available fuels. ... snip...
Taking away XP is a little different. Whole countries rely on Windows to function.
How so?

Ya, until you go back to the hosipital and the next doctor on staff doesn't know the dosage of medication you were put on, and gives you something that shouldn't be combined with the previous medication.
Are you incapable of telling him yourself? Are you taking stuff, without knowing what and how much?
This is quite interesting, as I just 2 days ago install kubuntu-desktop from my 8.10 Ubuntu laptop (Acer 5720).
It looks fine, after you've removed the stupid Postit notes on the screen, and Konqueror as the browser, etc, etc. But it runs like a dog. I can't even play a vid in mplayer without the sound and video skipping, whereas it's fine in Gnome. xorg process runs at 40-60% in KDE 4.1. Apparently, other people have problems with the Intel graphics card that I've got and KDE.
Verdict: Looks nice, but runs too slowly. Shame cos I have always liked KDE < 4. Aah well, I'll try it again in a year.
Aside from this looking like Mr Ombasa's email to me saying that his grandfather had died, we have this little symbol to denote this. It's above the 3, and looks like this. £. You can use £ if you have some weird furrin keyboard.
My ISP (Zen) have just announced they're stopping their binary news feed. Considering I pay £35/month for them, which I feel is a lot, I think it's time to vote with my feet. Anyone else recommend a good ISP with binary newsgroups in the UK for less than that?
Monty's stats are 12 overs, 3 maidens, 4 for 32. Smith was out LBW, and Jones was caught at deep square leg off a full toss from Barton. Australia avoided the follow-on, and won by 3 wickets.
We have everything on a NAS running RAID 5, at the end of each day anything that has been changed that day gets written to a DVD, which goes offsite. Normally chucked into someones bag on the way out of the door, but the DVDs are only for quick file recovery so not crucial.
Hope there's some encryption thrown in if it's in any way sensitive. Otherwise, a DVD of your info will end up all over the place.
Surely someone could come up with a better power source for these probes than a rare isotope.
Yeah, I'll do it. I've got a few minutes spare in an hour or so. I'll come up with something quickly, I'm sure. I mean, it's got to be piss-easy, right? I'm actually sort of surprised no-one else has bothered. Stupid lazy nuclear scientists.
Phoenix or Las Vegas average temperature in the summer months is around 40C (104F). The hottest places in southern Europe are nowhere near that.
Call me stupid, but perhaps it's a little short-sighted to build cities where humans can't naturally survive. Why do you think Europe has developed so fast over the last few millenia - perhaps because they didn't need to struggle against the elements to grow crops and survive.
Perhaps not, but tell that to people who lost loved ones in the earthquake.
"people who lost loved ones in the earthquake" are not the best people to listen to regarding prediction methods about earthquakes. It reminds me of a Mitchell and Webb sketch where a radio news show asks a man who has just lost his wife in a train crash if he thinks the new laser assisted warning system is a good idea. "You really shouldn't be asking me - I lack *any* objectivity", he replies. The IT Helpdesk, and Wedding Vows are funny too.
The answer is simple. AdBlock Plus, and Flashblock. That'll make your browsing pleasant again. NoScript will make it safer. Cookie Monster to limit what sites put cookies on your system. And OldBar to get rid of that fucking awful "Awesome Bar" that has been inflicted upon us in Firefox 3.

What, exactly, are you thinking that | cat on the end is adding?

I've honestly never understood how this happens? How do you accidentally post in the wrong discussion?

Who would like to bet that some big pharmaceutical company has a patented medication just for 'Bitterness'.
How about a spoonful of sugar?
As opposed to all the text newsgroups. alt.bin.* is generally what is being referred to.
1 Million GBP

Lawyers keep people out of prison (increasing their productivity).
It is fairly obvious to me.

There's terminology in all games.

Don't you mean a dyslexic version?
I can't do it right now - I've got a Hyper-V problem to be sorting.

You know that France and the UK have looked at joining together several times? Google it, it's out there.
Surely they can keep him alive, no matter what? Strap a few more devices to his chair (lung/heart/kidney support), and he'll be away.
I jest, of course.

But the electricity needed to power the average American household would power a medium-sized Dutch city, right?
Professional hackers have said that the implementation of ASLR/NX on Vista is far superior to Apples.
Edible fruit probably aren't much use in protecting you against professional hackers. I guess you could throw them at them?
Java. OK, actually I hate Java.
So you hate Java despite it allowing you to do precisely, easily, and compactly what you wanted to do? *
People are weird.
* I'm guessing you had a traumatic experience with an applet in 1998 that took 20 seconds to start up, and hung your browser. Get over it.
Give the script-writing a break for a bit - get another job. I'm sure you'll break into the big time soon, but for now, just get a job at McDonalds.
