  1. Re:3G - it ain't "broadband" on T-Mobile Launches £2 Per Day Mobile Broadband · · Score: 1

The 4 bars is just signal strength, not capacity. You share the cell-tower bandwidth with all the other data users that are "attached" to it. I seem to remember that a 3G cell is 384k, although they can bung a few on each tower. Don't forget the pipes from the tower back to the Telco's HQ/Internet connections either.

  2. Re:The daily rate is outrageously expensive on T-Mobile Launches £2 Per Day Mobile Broadband · · Score: 1

Not sure if anyone has already mentioned this (I suspect so), but 1 lb is 1 pound in weight, and £1 is 1 GBP. You can use £ for the symbol if you don't have a UK keyboard. Oh, and no, you can't use the hash (#) symbol for either (at least in the UK). We don't even use it to mean "number", as in #1. In fact, stupid bloody symbol. Just means "comment in PHP" to me.

How, exactly, does a global pandemic affect a network?

Because lots of people like me would be ringing their bosses, and saying: "I'm not risking dying, I'll be VPNd in, working from home for the next 3-6 months" perhaps?

Of course, if I had some work to do where I had to go in, I'd go in, but I'd want to minimise my exposure to anything. 10 metres over a LAN cable versus 10 miles over a VPN connection? It's pretty much the same (just slower).

What a depressing comment. You're about to vote for the person that could potentially fuck up the world (yet more) for *another* four years, and you're worried about what they look like. I'm British, so I can't vote, but my stupid government still follows some of your more stupid ideas blindly, so we get affected by your decisions.
Please vote sensibly. Hint: Obama (In a world poll, "Democrat Mr Obama was favoured by a four-to-one margin across the 22,500 people polled in 22 countries."). Obama, at least, whatever his other faults/shortcomings doesn't seem like such a warmongering, oil-crazed, stuff-the-rest-of-the-world-we're-alright-Jack sort.

Yeah, yeah, mod me down - the truth no-doubt hurts.
