The 4 bars is just signal strength, not capacity. You share the cell-tower bandwidth with all the other data users that are "attached" to it. I seem to remember that a 3G cell is 384k, although they can bung a few on each tower. Don't forget the pipes from the tower back to the Telco's HQ/Internet connections either.
Not sure if anyone has already mentioned this (I suspect so), but 1 lb is 1 pound in weight, and £1 is 1 GBP. You can use £ for the symbol if you don't have a UK keyboard. Oh, and no, you can't use the hash (#) symbol for either (at least in the UK). We don't even use it to mean "number", as in #1. In fact, stupid bloody symbol. Just means "comment in PHP" to me.
How, exactly, does a global pandemic affect a network?
Because lots of people like me would be ringing their bosses, and saying: "I'm not risking dying, I'll be VPNd in, working from home for the next 3-6 months" perhaps?
Of course, if I had some work to do where I had to go in, I'd go in, but I'd want to minimise my exposure to anything. 10 metres over a LAN cable versus 10 miles over a VPN connection? It's pretty much the same (just slower).
It's been 4 minutes since you last successfully posted a comment. Gad.
Check out the guys from the PC-and-Mac adverts in the show they did called "Peep Show". Very funny, first-person POV comedy.
And for more zany British comedy, "Green Wing".
What a depressing comment. You're about to vote for the person that could potentially fuck up the world (yet more) for *another* four years, and you're worried about what they look like. I'm British, so I can't vote, but my stupid government still follows some of your more stupid ideas blindly, so we get affected by your decisions.
Please vote sensibly. Hint: Obama (In a world poll, "Democrat Mr Obama was favoured by a four-to-one margin across the 22,500 people polled in 22 countries."). Obama, at least, whatever his other faults/shortcomings doesn't seem like such a warmongering, oil-crazed, stuff-the-rest-of-the-world-we're-alright-Jack sort.
Yeah, yeah, mod me down - the truth no-doubt hurts.
Hell this makes her less attractive than the 2nd most attractive person in DETROIT (population over 800k).
I see what you're basing that on, but it's bad logic. Everyone in Detroit could be much uglier than the average Alaskan. You're assuming an equal hot-to-not ratio in both places.
... what porn you search for, any medical conditions, who you email, who you IM and what you say, what regions you look at on maps.google.com, who views your pictures, what ads you click on, etc.
If I ever went for an interview at Google, I wouldn't need to tell them a thing - they can just look it up, and crunch it through some sort of suitability formula.
Perhaps this is the end of the cycle. Perhaps, this is how our universe was created. And so, every X billion years, we get smart enough, disintegrate the universe, and have to start all over again, evolving from slime.
Perhaps real intelligence will know *not* to switch it on in a few more cycles of this.
Well, it's been nice knowing you all. I'm just off to steal some Porsches (no Ferarri garages nearby), and loot, and plunder booty.

Where was this, and what happened? Who was the "stabber"?
What's they best way to maintain some semblance of a relationship with someone without physical contact? These days, it is the Internet.
Alternatively, break out the Ham radio gear. Voice, morse, packet data - it's all good.

Thanks for your support, TV licensees of Britain!
Uh, that's OK. Just send me some money, and I'll make sure it gets passed on to the right pub... I mean people.

That's not funny.

Slightly OT - if Americans spell analogue as analog, why isn't rogue spelled rog?
Well, that makes this post redundant then :) Great minds, the drive to +5dom, and all that.
<erno> hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange, which uses the LSE's trading platform TradElect, also suspended trading.
Hmm. Smells like a new version to me.

I've been doing this for years, as it seems most DNS servers do not care where requests are coming from.
Not any more. Lots of people are restricting queries/recursion to their own subnets.
They're all handled by the JVM. Which I didn't write, Mr Bagina.
