I tend to think lawyers serve no purpose, like most politicians. Its only coincidental that a lot of politicians were once practicing lawyers. Furthermore, I believe that you don't fuck with people that handle your food, it goes up from there. I say fuck em, I see a DDOS coming very soon to those motherfuckers.
The only people that would hand over their keys are normal everyday innocent citizens. The criminals would never do it. Lets think about this...On the off chance they do get prosecuted for not giving up their encryption, the punishment could and would most likely be far lessthan that of whatever crime they are concealing.
This works as well as anti-gun laws which take the guns out of responsible law abiding citizens hands and pretty much leaves people to being victims of the only people with guns (the criminals), who by the way don't care about gun laws either.
Has microsoft's arrogance finally become their downfall. Now they believe that they and thir corporate counterparts can do whatever they want and we are just supposed to buy it. I for one wont be purchasing longhorn and I find it hard to believe anyone else wouuld be subjected to having to buy more restrictive hardware to replace already functioning and capable hardware just for their shitty OS. More so, microsoft should pay more attention to creating a stable and secure OS and less attention in how to control the world with it and to make money for them and their hardware buddies. Its bad enough in a couple of years everyone will have to buy new TVs, whether they can affors it or not. I for one wont be buying one..I only watch DVDs as it is, and I can do tht on my computer so I'll just through my tv set on my congressman's lawn as he only lives a few minutes away. Everyone should find their government representatives homes and dispose of their tvs on their front lawns. Just an idea!
Is it possible to give more value? Maybe but where does it stop. I'll tell you what we do to keep jobs here. Allow companies to outsource to keep markets going, just increase penalties and tax the hell out of them. All it is about is widening profit margins...if corporations want to be that greedy...TAX the HELL out of them.
Secondly, get rid of all the politicians who profit from this or at least benefit from it..they know who they are!
I say PHP is better. It is similar in style to C and Perl. It doesn't require much to set up. You can do it at home or even get some free hosting space such as geocities or something newer. They all make the use of PHP readily available and tips, tricks, and tutorials for learning PHP are all over the place. Best of all, with a little resourcefullness, you can do this all for FREE. You could even learn MySQL for the backend for nothing as well. Hell thats how I got started. Open source is great for learning.
If I had to guess, this is their way of getting you to , in a sense, sign a legal binding contract and that if you break it...they have your ass. No to mention you just gave them all the info they needed to now exactly who you are and can watch your every move online. I may be a little off, but for the most part I feel there is some truth to this.
Anyone who admits guilt to something that is not illegal anyhow, you deserve what you get!
Ask yourself this (especially knowing what you know now)....is it worth it? I say no. The government as a whole has the collective IQ of 10. They neither care about our rights nor the US Constitution. Im so tired about hearing of our rights and the Constitution. We live in a corporation not a democracy and the Constituion is a mission statement. Its what they try to live by but it all comes down to what the "shareholder" wants.
And as far as letting a company know about their security flaw...screw them. They will do nothing about it in most cases( so its not even worth the risk) or they will go after you legally to keep your mouth shut.
Best bet would have been to exploit it...shut them down...and then the customers would have left. Meanwhile set up something similar ( more secure of course) and let the searching little consumers flock your way.
Thats just my opinion however, and really, who am I?
you have a valid point; however, I did say it was just my opinion.
Maybe, im just not used to it, all i know is i can never find anything and every time I load some new piece of software it puts it where it wants to. I to prefer Mandrake, I used to use Suse and did not like it at all...I am now trying out Gentoo though.
here is a question, do you think that im right about the "bloat"? Do you think that Linux distros try way to hard to give you way too many choices of software?
Even profeesional LINUX programmers have said that they would like to see the file structure made a little more organized, but what do you think about the amount of crap that comes with an installation of LINUX?
It seems to me Linux is going in the wrong direction. I have messed around with more than my fair share of distros and the one common feature b/w all of them is that they are bloated.
I spend countless hours going through the set up process removing as much crap from the kernel, as many start up processes, and all the useless software, just so when I boot into KDE or GNOME for the first time there is just so much more there.
Secondly, The file structure for LINUX is unorganized to say the least. The Hierarchal file structure in Windows would be really the only true advantage I see over LINUX.
I understand that the concept of LINUX is to give choices (ie ext2, ext3, ReiserFS, etc..etc) and the over abundance of free software), but there is a fine line between enough software (to do whatever) you may need, and to much useless software just for the sake of having it.
Solution:
1) Change the relationships in the file structure, standardize it so that all software loaded follows that structure.
2) Load by default one software title for each category (preferably the best at the time of distro release) for example: GAIM (for IM), GIMP (for image manipulation); gFTP; Mozilla, etc.. One item for each category. If someone prefers a different piece of software let them load it. I am personally tired of deselecting 50 different FTP programs, and 20 different image viewers.
3) Don't sacrifice function, for ease of use. (if people jus want the computer to work for them let the get Windows or a MAC)
These are just my opinions, things I would like to see happen!
Are we terrorist because we prefer to support new ideas and not capitalist ones? Or maybe, it is because we would like to have control over our expensive hard earned equipment, and not Bill Gates. Linux isn't perfect; however, not even Bill himself thinks Windows is. You aren't even man enough to be anything more than an anonymous coward. This country was founded on new ideas and a better way of thinking. To think patriotically, and to follow the herd was to be British. Go back to Britain you tyrant......
I "steal" (as the RIAA puts it) music, I "steal" (as Microsft puts it) software, SCO can go F@ck themselves if they think anyone, including myself, is going to pay $1 pr $699 to license the IP technology. HAHAHAHA...they are just trying to slow down LINUX, I wouldn't be suprised if GATES himself was a majority shareholder in SCO.
In my experience most self-proclaimed hackers are not anything more than hacks...they can generally execute a few scripts( generally written by someone else) and or execute a few simple tricks of the trade easily picked up in any computer book found at your local library.
Crackers ( media = Hackers) generally arent very good at securing their own equipment as they dont truly understand security. Hell, even Kevin Mitnicks security consultant companys' computers got hacked, I think twice in one month. (Although they might have been leased from a hosting company in which the blame would have fell on them). If you ask me I dont believe the guy to be anything more than a joke, and probably not even worthy of the time it took me to write this.
On a final note, Anyone can tell the media they are a hacker and they will respond. For some damn reason the media is in awe of hacker(cRACKERS). tHEY ARE THE REAL LIFE 21ST CENTURY CRIMINALS...wHO WOULDNT BE IN AWE OF THAT.. lol
The previous comments about this article have some how turned into a debate over what is theft and what is not. Or just f@ck the RIAA comments ingeneral. As I may agree with those posts the article is about private P2P networks, getting into those networks and the fact that those type of Networks will be the future.
I believe that there is no safe haven for filesharers that choose to trade copyrighted material in breach of the copyright. However, as an owner of a private network I must ask the question...What laws are being broken if unwanted guests such as the the RIAA come into my network without permission. They then would be a hacker. Hacking(ie cracking) is illegal. Hell, the FBI spends a better part of it time and budget tracking people who break into networks where they do not belong (FBI calls them hackers).
Next question...If the RIAA or other associations broke into my network and then tried to sue me for what they saw, or claim they saw, how is that now different then a cop breaking into your home and then finding somethind illegal and the arresting you for it. They can't, they need a search warrant, which in order to get, they need probable cause. As for the RIAA (non-law enforcement agency) they couldnt even get a search warrant. They may however be able to convince a law enforcement agency (ie FBI or local police to get one), but i'm sure that there are many loop holes that would get you off there. Basically, let them get into my system, let them hire companies to get into my system. As much as they try, and as much as the poliicians try, they are not above the constitution, and any defense attorney worth anything could get you off. So let them try...I say everyone needs to set up a private network, screen users, and put up a nice big disclaimer warning law enforcement and members of RIAA, MPAA and anyone else you do not want in your network to stay out or face prosecution.
Did you read the article? The article states that it began as an idea two decades ago that with the help of the son became reality. Once people saw the original prototype that was hand crafted and taking on tour to automobile symposiums other engineerin firms and automakers help out either for free or very cheaply to redesin the chassis and to use parts already in poduction for other cars( cheaper that way). So I do believe the car you see is not the original but a newer version created by companies spearheaded by the father-son team. And furthermore, as most concepts and prototypes never actually hit mass production, the technologies used in them and the concepts that were used to build those prototypes is what generally finds it way into everyday driving vehicles. Since the article goes on to say that some Washington politicans are trying to get tax incentives and driving privelages for people who purchase a Tango, that could only help the cause, I believe that we could see tangos or other similar vehicles in mass production very soon. Especially if they can really get the cost to below $20,000 which really is what is holding back other alternatives (if you believe the car companies....hahaha). I believe profit is what is holding them back, but who knows.
There is a Free legal service that is representing many people from Missouri and Illinois where several thousand people have been served by DirectTV. I cant remember the name but I have seen tem mentioned on slashdot before. Maybe someone can remember who they are. it like freelegal......com, or something like that. They are representing all directTV victims. Im sure if you search the internet you may be able to find them. Hope this helps you out.
I submitted this exact story 3 weeks ago but it did not get posted. It actually goes a step farther.
DirectTV sent out letters to people that they were suing. In the manner in which they did it, many people believed it to be a scam so they did not reply. The courts ruled that anyone that does not respond automatically is ordered to pay the settlement ammount.
Many of the people are now trying to fight the judgement for a few reasons:
DirectTV filed a lawsuit on every customer they found in the company's records that theyve raided without asking:
did the people recieve the product? did they use it to steal DirectTV broadcasts? did they use it for legitimate use?
There are many other questions they chose not ask. This is just another way that Big Companies can do what they please without regard for the constitution. You can thank the corrupt American legal system and our wonderful politicians.
I am 100% pro military and 100% anti-goverment and as such I must contest your bullshit brainwashed rhetoric.
IRAQ is a sovereign nation which means noone is above them. The UN is a feable attempt at a "One World Government". What Iraq does to its people is morally wrong to us and wrong in the eyes of GOD; however, it is not in the eyes of their GOD and it is not morally wrong to them as morals are beliefs instilled in you from birth. It is not the right of America or any other Goverment to tell them otherwise. We are a sovereign nation and as a red blooded american that I believe you to be, you would not appreciate Britian coming here and tell you how to act and what to do and how to live(Din't work in the 1700's and won't work now). Secondly, we have the most dangerous weapons in the world, far more severe then Iraq. (if you don't believe that to be true then you are far more ignorant than I first thought). For us to tell them that they can not have them is wrong. Wars re caused by a few Old white men (CEO's of company's perhaps) and those wars are fought by many young men and women. I say we all just stop buying anything from DirectTV or any company that has a belief that it is above the Constitution and has more rights than tax payers. Democracy.....HA.....we live in a Corporation and BUSH is the CEO.
Fuck...apparently you can patent anything these days....Who needs to work, just patent something and sit back and collect royalties. Hmmm...Ithink I'll patent AIR that way if you wanna breathe you must pay me. MUWHAHAHAHA!

If software that powers business does not work, then businesses begin to lose work.
