    big difference between the work i do and the work that he's talking about it. It is nice for a little while and fun for a few hours here are there. But 14 hours of this type of work very few people could tolerate let alone enjoy nowadays(including myself)

    Good gads, just because MS makes some bad software and seems to bend the law doesn't mean MS is realted to this is any way. MS has teamed with virtually ever tech company at one time or another.

    oh brother, do you have any idea how much work would be involved in "old world" traditions?

    Would you be willing to sacrifice 14 hours a day just to have food, clothes, and a warm place to sleep. Forsaking TV, computers, phones, everything else?

    Maybe, but i think very few would.

    hmmm... good point

    But remember he is referring to the program that opens the .jpg so if your browser wasn't vunerable then a malicious jpg couldn't hurt you.

    Of course as soon as a virus comes out of these filetypes, people will stop opening them up pretty quickly.

    Actually it is not as trivial as it sounded. Many people right or wrong feel this way, and some folks(myself included) would like it changed.

    I think the guy is cute, but it turns folks off.

    I doubt it would ever happen.

    I do have suggestions if anyone ever wanted to hear them though. :-)

    Oh yeah that's nothing my company paid $15,000 for two 20MB hard drives the size of a dishwasher.

    That's nothing, I paid....

    I guess it the next generations version of:

    I walked 10 miles in the snow to school, both ways. And I was happy dang it!

    I think not. Sure they don't mean you know anything. Everybody has meet a MCSE who is utterly clueless, but they do help your resume move to the top of the stack.

    Let's be honest most people only get certifications to get a better job. That and your employer pays you to get one.

    Why would SUN and HP have to release a version of linux on their high-end systems?

    SUN cost for Solaris wouldn't be higher than SGI to port Linux to their systems.

    It would seem that people producing high-end systems costs would go down, using a no-cost license fee os like Linux.

    Why would I want to use Pike?

    It's fast(for scripting language)
    It's OOP's.
    It's multi-platform.

    Anything else?

    Does it excel at any one area or is it just better(why?) than the other scripting language out there.

    Or was this just a college project and they wanted to share?

    The above is one small reason I pay with cash. The other big reason it that I hate credit companies and find it helps my budget to not use cc's.

    My company has had dealing with Microsoft, yet never had a sale. The reason:

    We commonly sell source code to our customers but they usually are limited to a specific product family.

    Everytime we deal with them they will not agree the code will turn up in other areas of microsoft, which we deem unacceptable and the deal is off. In our area, MS is not important so it's not a big deal.

    I haven't read the article but i wonder how many times, others business "have" to deal with MS overlook things like the above, realize they have been screwed and then sue. Or get greedy for the MS deal, get screwed and then sue. Or maybe just plained got screwed by ole MS.

    Or maybe it's all over my head and just business as usual. Yeah that's probably it.

    Try Hot Dr. Pepper!

    I am told that they really pushed hot Dr Pepper as a replacement for coffee back in the 50's 60's or 70's(Can't Remember). You could also add a little lemon to it. I tried it once unique taste. Maybe some of you old timers remember this.

    No kidding. I am not real familiar with all the different window managers. I always thought that fvwm2 was one of the smaller quicker ones.
