From the poster of the article:
Here's a story from Spaceflight Now about a new test aircraft that can travel at supersonic speeds without triggering a sonic boom.
From the article: ... the team showed modifying an aircraft's shape can also change the shape of its sonic boom, thereby reducing loudness.
Please please enlighten me on how reducing loudness = no sonic boom?
Gay. Gay. Gay.
Nobody believes Iranians are evil. There may be many that believe the government is. If you can't tell the difference, then you better learn. By the tone of your post it sounds like you don't agree with a lot of things your government has done, and as such I doubt you would want people of other countries judging you as a person for the actions of your President.
Secondly, your is not the only negative post so far, and I don't understand it at all. Maybe it is easier to think negatively on short notice and try and get posted first, I don't know. Still, how can you put such a negative spin on this! There is no censorshop going on, the website is allowing them to see anything they want, it is not just propaganda, it is full and complete information.
Maybe I am biased, because I have such a strong believe that freedom of information is the most powerfull weapon against oppressive governments. Be it a democracy or a 'radical Islamic regime', an informed public can be much more powerfull than bombs.
So while you are feel to compain about your government currently restricting your freedom, this story is completely unrelated. Take it for what it is--a good thing, and then make your complaints in another breath.
From cnn:"Parson also admitted that he renamed the original "MSBlast.exe" executable "teekids.exe," after his online name 'teekid,'" according to FBI documents.
Note to self: If creating a virus, do not use your alias as the name of the executable.
I am very intrigued by all of these mysql complaints. As far as I can tell MySQL is GPL. How do so many people have a problem with GPL software now! Is it because they also offer an alternative license?
I think people have forgotten.
1) It is GPL 2) You do not need to buy a license for it unless you want to sell it! 3) You can still sell your own software that uses mysql. You just need to put "A running installation of mysql" in the requirements of your software!
There are very few instances when you will need to purchase mysql licenses.
On the other hand, I can also understand a lot of the misunderstandings. If you goto the mysql website it is very unclear, and in fact, they make it sound like you need a license for anything commercial!
One of the main reasons these advances stopped was a U.S. law banning aircraft faster than the speed of sound. Why would anybody put research money into an aircraft that could not be used commercially over land!
I believe you would have seen the improvements keep coming and coming had things been allowed to continue.
I personally never believe anyone anymore when they tell me things can't get any faster. I remember being told that 14.4k was the fastest speed physically possible over telephone lines. Then somehow they kept making them faster. Had broadband not come around, I am confident somebody would have discovered a way already to send more thatn 56.6k over a phone line.
Law or no law, things keep progressing as long as there is a need.
You are totally off track. The ranking is for your-self only and has no effect on other people. So, the only effect that would have would be for the spammer to be spamming himself.
Don't get too excited. The Adult Swim lineup changes like every week.
I am still holding my breath and waiting for Inu-Yasha and Cowboy Bebop to come back. Right now there is nothing on that I like except Trigun and of course Home Movies.
Actually, I think pooling some money together and buying a billboard along I-15 would be much better. Anybody have any ideas on how much one of those things cost? I'ld be willing to pitch in.
Feel free to emigrate. No really, feel free. If you really are as unhappy as you say you are, then nobody would want you to have to put up with that.
I am really curious which countries you are talking about that do not have corruption, greed, or advertisements, because I would like to put those next on my list.
These are unfortunate facts of most countries, and while you may be too involved with the romantic adventure of your travels to see them, I would bet they exist right in front of your eyes, wherever you are.
The trick is to see the people and who they really are, and not to pass judgement on a people because of their government or the actions of a minority. -- Even your home country, but that is usually the most difficult.
Happy travels, and next time buy a one way ticket, you just might be glad you did, I know we will.
eh? Or they could just use standard html and not I.E. specific HTML, and then you wouldn't need to do any porting to any other operating systems at all!
Relying on i.e. specific java scripting or whatever they are doing that is i.e. specific is just asking for trouble--and not because it locks our small minority out of it.
The fact that they are using ANY sort of client side java-script, let alone i.e. specific java script for checking values or what not for a voting system is not a good idea. What if they are using i.e. and have java-script disabled, or whatever.
Bottom line, is it should be standard HTML, not just so everyone can use it, but so that it is more robust!!
"Hey I would like an NDA where I can release benchmarks with your software. I will do it against an open source project, and I will only release reports that shows yours is better, even if I have to use a development release of the open source project in question."
When was the last time you heard of plane making an emergency landing on a freeway in any case?
When was the last time you heard of an airplane landing anywhere other than an airport. But we shouldn't make the planes physically unable to do that either.
Why would they "obviously" have a vertical limit?
Because, our airspace is too crowded. If it did not have a vertical limit it would be impractical--especially in heavily congested areas (i.e. the areas you would want the soft wall)
First of all, nobody in the Aviation industry is going to take this seriously.
Now for my list of problems:
Engine dies, aircraft attempts to make emergency landing on beach, freeway, etc. Aircraft won't turn, stalls, falls from the sky.
These 'soft-walls' will obviously have a vertical limit. So go above the vertical limit, cut off the master switch and dive in from the top
An operative in maintanence, simply removes the device
An operative in maintanence, modifies the device to force the airplane to go where they want it. Now they don't even need the suicide person on the airplane.
Malfunctions. Every aircraft going through Insrument conditions must have *2* independent and different devices by which to fly with. (i.e. GPS, VOR, etc). And then you put a single point of failure in like this? not likely.
Ok, so there are just a few examples, but really, nobody is going to take this seriously. As soon as the hype wears off, and VC's stop giving them money, they are out of luck. Maybe this fun to look at from a technology and geek perspective, but don't expect anybody in the aerospace industry to take a close look.
I have a server running 2.4.20 and it took forever to get the kernel compiled with all the correct modules.
When is it worth upgrading kernel versions?
Is there a way I can easily use the old configuration? Any HOW-TO on this?
I must say I am very reluctant to upgrade the kernel.. especially when I don't have physical access to the machine. But I would of course love to the the fastest and most secure server as possible. Just curious what rules and procedures others use.
It's the same with snail mails. Certain dangerous goods are not allowed on regular mail, [with] regular packaging.
The postal system also gives me guidlines on what I can send and what I can not. If mail-room clerks at corporations simply tossed out letters as they wanted I think you would see some problems.
Secondly, I can choose whether or not to run the file. And putting it in a zip does not make it any safer.
ahahaaha.. silly me. I was assuming the poster read the article before he posted it...
What the hell?

Gay. Gay. Gay.
Most countires (including the U.S.) have banned overland supersondic flight due to noise problems.
Not having a sonic boom will open the door for over-land civilian supersonic flight.
Just think. Los Angeles to New York in 3 hours.

which is booting in less than a century on my PII-266 / 96M of ram.
Here, this one might work better for you.
Better than my pilot license. Its valid until my death.
Please be more specific next time. Just telling me not to click made me click!

I almost read that as "These issues are serious"

Do you think Warren Buffet or Peter Lynch would even consider investing in SCO? Nope.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were investing now. Selling Short!
I love the things I learn on slashdot.

What would RIAA do if a satellite full of mp3s was launched with easy access for everybody?
Easy, sue SCO, the owner of the patents for Linux for developing a platform that allowed such a satellite to be launched.
Am I the only one that just read the bug and had trouble taking this guy seriously?
